An Earthship is a perfect combination of sustainable living and environmentally conscious architecture, without compromising comfort or functionality. It operates entirely off-grid, utilizing a blend of natural and recycled building materials, as well as passive solar heating, rainwater harvesting, greywater recycling and food production. Earthships minimize their ecological footprint while maximizing self-sufficiency. Sonskip Oornagverblyf offers guests the unique experience of an Earthship in a homely environment comprising of double or twin rooms with a shared bathroom. Free WiFi included. Not self-catering, no meals provided, but close to various restaurants and cafés providing nutritious home-cooked meals. Coffee / tea with rusks served in the morning, and any other time on request.

The characteristics of an Earthship are: - No load shedding, only solar power - Use solar geysers and gas for backup - Use only rainwater - Grey water is reused for indoor garden, toilet and outdoor garden - Food production - Water and power used as sparingly as possible
