Baris Guesthouse was once a milk stable. Since 1988 it was a dream to convert this beautiful old sandstone building to a guesthouse. But it was only in January 2015 that full scale renovations started. Since there was so many problems with the structure of the building, we had to carefully 'demolish' it before we could start building. All the sandstone of the old stable was used and the roof trusses of the stable were used to build the kitchenette cupboards. We kept the cribs outside intact and incorporated it with stone walls to create small private gardens for each unit. Selected antique furniture and quilts complement the old character of the building. The guesthouse is on the same premises as the farmhouse and as such has access to the tranquil garden with more than a 100 trees that promises enchanting autumns. Venture on a short walk and experience stunning views of the valley at the foot of the northern slopes of the Witteberg Mountains. I love nature, people and being creative. The garden grew because I love gardening! To create a space where birds are welcome, trees and plants invite you to walk and listen and where every season captures you, that is my passion. To quilt, crochet, upholster or bake... all of it fills my heart with joy!

The picturesque town of Clarens offers a variety of restaurants, galleries and curio shops.
