Property info

THE 1st HOUSE EVER TO BE BUILT IN SCHOEMANSVILLE After a year of enjoying picnic hampers under the cool shade of a lonely tree on the only high spot in Schoemansville overlooking the Hartbeespoort Dam, Frank A. Pool and his wife decided to build a cottage. The cottage and the garage were completed in July 1929. The unique rocks of the Magaliesberg when broken in two revealed a rich dark granite blue colour which they decided would be fitting to the environment and proceeded to haul ox-wagon load after load from the foot of the majestic Magaliesberg. Being a blacksmith by trade F.A. Poole, as he was known, formed many of the steel framed structures by hand. The front tapered cylindrical stemp columns, featuring 50 hand beaten rivets each stand proud today as a reminder of the tenacity of our pioneering forefathers. Due to circumstances the 3rd generation Poole’s had to part ways with their beloved holiday home and sold the property to the current owners, Koos & Charlotte Engelbrecht. They decided to share this little gem with visitors.
