Set in the heart of Clarens, a village at the foot of the Maleti Mountains, this guest house is great for exploring South Africa’s Free State province. Built in Neo-Colonial style, Red Mountain House features 8 comfortably furnished guest units. Relax in front of the fireplace in your seating area or take in magnificent views from the comfort of your balcony. Persian carpets, four-poster beds and turn-of-the-century antiques complement each of the rooms. Next to an on site restaurant, Red Mountain House includes an in-house shop selling African and local art. Choose a number of beautiful souvenirs for your family or friends. With the village market square just a short walk away, you can also opt to explore nearby stores. Please could you add that Red Mountain House will be minimally affected by the Clarens crisis as we have installed back up water tanks.

We are always looking to add to the little touches in the rooms for our guests. We have recently added handmade scatter cushions for the beds and on out coffee tray there are locally handmade ginger biscuits.
We enjoy welcoming people from wherever they come and hearing their stories especially people from far afield and and as to how they have come to visit this small village
There area wealth of restaurants both in and around Clarens, many art galleries and so many activities to do like white water rafting on the Ash river outlet which is the outlet for the water from the Lesotho highlands. Hiking, cycling, golf can all be enjoyed surrounded by stunning views
