Whether you are here for a weekend of exploration or a week of deep introspection, Mariaan and Charl invite you to experience the perfect balance of accessibility and mountain solitude. The Gate Guesthouse is situated on the edge of a bubbling stream and the Clarens Village Conservancy, a nature reserve with various walking and hiking trails. We are a short walk to the village square with numerous restaurants and shops. The shops include the famous "The Emporium", a shop where colour and creativity are celebrated. Charl is able to assist with planning excursions and hikes in the area as well as in the Golden Gate National Park.

Ideally situated within easy reach of the historic Clarens village square, yet worlds away in spirit, our refined retreat occupies a secluded pocket at the very base of the ancient Rooiberg mountain. We believe that true luxury is found in the details of the landscape. Our guesthouse was designed as a boutique sanctuary for the discerning traveller—someone who appreciates being mere footsteps from local galleries and cafes, while still having a private enclave to return to at the end of the day.
