Company info

Hosting guests is our business so we enjoy making people feel comfortable, and relaxed when they arrive. We are not a 'fancy' modern guest house, just a good option to enjoy a good nights comfortable, affordable accommodation. Whether an overnighter, or a couple of days it is always lovely to hear of guests experiences in South Africa, which generally confirm that we live in a stunning and welcoming land. South Africa has something for everyone to enjoy, and Graaff-Reinet is definitely a place for guests to relax and enjoy a different vibe to the rest of South Africa. Local restaurants serve excellent food and wines, and the general air of the town is relaxed.

Property info

This year the main building will celebrate around 200 years of age. Often wonder about the folk who have lived in this home over the years. Can you imagine the family sagas that took place in it! Remember when you are this age that maintenance is ongoing, so do not be surprised if we are pottering around painting etc. the weather has played quite a large part in the buildings history, as the high temperatures in summer and the low temperatures in winter make "weathering" a real issue. In fact the periwinkle ground cover around the pool, has been scorched from the heat! We do not have solar power , but for emergency we have a petrol generator for the main building, and energy lights in the rooms. The property has been a gust house since 2004 and is a much loved home run by family members too.

Neighborhood info

There are so many lovely activities in the surrounding area. In the Camdeboo National Park, which almost completely surrounds the town, game and bird viewing surrounded by incredible open scenery is very popular. Visiting the Valley of Desolation in the park is an absolute must to round off a visit to this delightful town. Wonderful galleries, curio shops and fascinating museums can also be visited. Lots of tastings in town of wine, rum, and a full tequila tour with tasting - can also be arranged with a local farm. Township tours, and various sporting facilities can also be arranged including clay target shooting - subject to availability. A wonderful small town ready to be explored with interesting period architecture, and easily accessed sights within easy driving distance in the surrounding countryside. So definitely a good place to come and relax recharge your batteries and explore. Recent additions of extra coffee shops and local arts and craft shops add to the experience.
