The host, the property and the experience were all incredible. We arrived to Narai-Juku after walking the Nakasendo Trail for three days. Walking the street was absolutely magical and the house did not disappoint! It is right on the main "street" and gives a feeling of immediately being transported back in time. The opportunity to stay there is something my family and I will never forget and we sincerely hope to stay again! The inside of the house has all of the modern amenities while still keeping the original feel. Additionally, as a bonus, the owner is friendly and kind and took the time to make sure we understood how everything worked inside. In the morning he recommended a great breakfast place which was much appreciated.

Spacious, modern, excellent location, and amazing hosts! We couldn’t ask for more, and will greatly miss this place. We wish we had chosen to stay more than two nights. It may be one of our all-time favorite places we have picked to stay. The beds and linens were especially comfortable!

Great location, very close to Mastumoto Castle. Lots of restaurants and bars closeby. Very comfortable stay. Really liked the rustic feel of the place.

Boasting views of Suwa Lake, outdoor hot-spring baths and 1 restaurants, Hananoi Hotel is 7 minutes from JR Kamisuwa Train Station on the free shuttle (reservation required).

The completely nonsmoking Ryokan Matsukaze is just 10-minute walk or a 5-minute drive from JR Matsumoto Train Station. The ryokan offers simply furnished Japanese rooms with futon beds.

The owner is responsive and friendly even we arrived late. It's the shared bathroom with all the guests but you can make it private for you & your family by changing the sign at the door. Just be mindful, not taking shower too long or too late at night. Beds are comfortable and clean. Car park is free.
