Karnak is huge and worth exploring for hours, even without a guide. The main part guide shows you is a tiny bit of this massive complex. be prepared to be left speechless by the hypostyle hall, it is truly magnificent. Outside the main axis there are many small temples most people don't visit (we were practically alone in those areas) and stones reused to fill in pylons tell stories of erased periods like Hatshepsut and Amarna. Go for a 3 km wal from Karnak to Luxor through the Avenue of Sphinxes, it is amazing!

A trip to Luxor and Aswan is a mind blowing. Having visited both and magnificent temples, I am convinced it was not a work of humans. I am totally convinced another human or non-human beings must have come from different galaxies and built it. One cannot imagine those temples until see it in real life! Stunning!

The sound and light show was a disgrace not worth the entry fee. For such a big attention it was so poorly operated. We witnessed dishonest ticket negotiations and told that wheelchairs available once inside the entrance.. there was not. However outside the entrance you will find market stall holders hiring wheelchairs for a ridiculous price.. if you require a wheelchair I would suggest negotiating at this point. The security guards were wonderful and caring to my elderly mother who desperately needed assistance.

Get there early, not a sign in site and asking guides and security to show way to avenue of the sphinx's resulted in many tips and going round in circles. Found it eventually and was well worth the walk 3km as leads to Luxor temple. tickets to Luxor temple for sale half way along walk

Very large temple.

Very large temple. Quite difficult to understand what it is that you are seeing as there are so many rulers with difficult names. We were travelling independently but we did notice that the groups were ferried in and out at extraordinary speed. A factory production line.

Unmisable. Huge. Awesome. Allow time to wander about at your own pace. Also, be aware that there is a great little cafe on the far side of the temple, next to the sacred lake. Perfect for a pit stop and to recover from the heat :)

The location of the hotel is excellent, overlooking Luxor temple and the Nile, with views across to the west bank. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to ferries across to the west bank, a 2 minute walk to Luxor temple, and 1 minute to the souk. You can hire a carriage to take you to Karnak temple right outside the hotel. The restaurant is excellent with amazing views. Rooms are great, really atmospheric and clean. Would definitely go back again and can thoroughly recommend.

Beautifully designed hotel overlooking the Nile and not too far from the Luxor/Karnak temples and airport. Rooms clean and tidy, good breakfast and staff helpful and welcoming. Tried both the Lebanese and Italian restaurants and they were very good.

It is near to everything. Walking distance to Luxor temple and souq. Few minutes away to Karnak temple via taxi. The hostel is very safe inside. It was simple and affordable. I wished there has been more choices for the breakfast. The staff were super friendly and helpful specially Omar. What I like most in this hostel is it is very clean and they will insist to clean your room, they mop the floors in the hallway and reception everyday, though it needs upgrade on structural aspect but given its a 2 star hotel it is understandable.

The apartment is big, well equipped and clean. The location is wonderful as it's very close to Al Karnak Temple, and at the same time in a local neighborhood, where you get access to anything you need to buy. You can walk from there to the city center and Luxor temple in 15-20 minutes. You don't need any type of transportation to get anywhere around the city.
