JapanThe room we stayed in was very big and nice. The area is very quiet so we didn’t hear any noise.
We enjoyed having a quiet time listening to the music, reading books that they have in the library, and having coffee, wine and the welcome desserts they prepared for us.
The staffs are very friendly and nice.
We’d like to stay there next time, too.

United StatesThe Portside Inn was the most beautiful place we have ever stayed. From the moment you walk in, there is a wonderful woodsy smell, a fantastic kitchen, beautiful bathroom, comfortable bed, and the decor all had such a hand curated touch to it. Plus they had really nice small touches like fresh shortbread cookies and specialty coffee beans. Truly our one regret was not booking more nights here. We would love to be back one day. Thank you for an amazing stay!

The tea lounge is a great place to enjoy the daytime views of the Bay Area. However, the night view from the lounge is not very clear and has some reflections. It’s best to head to the observation deck just before sunset for a better experience.

This is very close to Mt. Hakodate and the park, which was full of cherry blossoms. The house was roomy for Japan and the 2 bedrooms worked well for my family of 4.

So stylish & modern, clean, and comfortable. Such an incredible view of the harbour, city, and mountains in distance. Super convenient to walk up Mt. Hakodate. Quiet location with little to no tourists, finally get some privacy and some peace and quiet, relaxing in a sauna, watching boats sail by. Kitchen well kitted out with everything you need to cook. High quality home appliances and comfortable beds. Very highly recommend this hidden gem!

The proximity to the train station is excellent. Literally right out the lobby and across the street. Immediately nearby is a market of fresh produce and seafood. It's only a 10-15 walk to a shopping center and a little further to some historic landmarks and a ropeway to the top of Mt. Hakodate. Also an excellent breakfast with American and Japanese options. There is even a convenience store next door that is accessible from the lobby in case you forgot and/or need something.

Tattoo friendly onsen. 5 minutes from airport. Quiet onsen district. 45 minute tram ride to JR train station. From there the tram continues to Cape Tachimachi (to within walking distance), Mt. Hakodate ropeway (to within walking distance), and Hakodate Dock-mae.

This property was at a good location for what I wanted to see. It's about a 15-20 minute walk from the Kanemori Warehouses, a 30-35 minute walk from the old town hall and churches, and a 30-40 minute walk from the ropeway. Mt. Hakodate is within view from the street. There's also a street car stop not far that can take you to Goryokaku Park/Tower. I found the facilities clean and squared and decorative yet sparse. Downstairs reminded me a little of someone's grandparents' house, while upstairs reminded me of a college dorm.

It's close to attractions such as Mt. Hakodate. The owners were incredibly sweet and nice, and went above and beyond for us. If I ever go back to Hakodate, this will be the first place I want to stay.
