Often, the value of actual hospitality is underrated in the hospitality industry, and it's overshadowed by fancy facilities and frills. Not at Gran Hotel, where the staff treats you like their own guest. They are warm and will go out of their way to help you out. Oh, and the hotel itself is a heritage site with exceptional facilities & a location to kill for! Absolute, must visit. If I am ever in Mexico City again, I am staying at Gran for sure.

We spent 3 nights in the hotel. We enjoyed our room very much, which was very clean and super comfortable. The location in Zocalo is excellent, and the rooftop has an amazing view at the square. The breakfast was amazing, as well as the free snacks during the day. The staff was very helpful.

Staying at NH in Centro Histórico was an amazing experience. Great location, we were walking distance from Zócalo, lots of shopping & great food. The rooms were very comfortable, clean & the staff were amazing. I can’t wait to come back and stay here again. Thank you NH for making my stay and birthday amazing. Getting a surprise piece of cake brought to my room was incredible.

Watch your pockets, very few bars to have a quiet drink by the.square besides that enjoy well worth the visit, especially if you are a James Bond fan, asked in a bar and they told me exactly where the spot where he walked across the roofs and took his shot, amazing place just to many tourist rubbish for sell. Private taxis are cheaper than the pink and grey national taxis, paid 300 pesos.to get there, and a hell of a lot more getting back by pink taxis

There's always something to look forward to as there's usually some event, expo, or local vendors in the Zocalo. Expect huge crowds especially on Dia de los Muertos in October and near Christmastime. Don't skip this on your trip to Mexico City.

We stayed opposite the square.

We stayed opposite the square. If you can time your visit to a national holiday. The Square comes alive. Awesome place to visit. There are more museums in Mexico City than anywhere else I have been. Book a seat on hop on hop off bus - probably need 48 hours if you want to do the main museums, or just use it as a tour guide for a quick look around. Mexico is truly a great place to spend 2 or 4 weeks. Good starting point is Mexico City. Its safe, clean and a very happy place.

This is great place to see the historic buildings.

This is great place to see the historic buildings. The church is amazing. And there are usually lots of huge interesting exhibits in the main square. The Gran hotel has a great patio restaurant and the hotel is worth a visit even if not staying - stunning lobby. There are also often street performers here or on some of the side pedestrian malls. On my very first visit there was a gentleman playing the cello who was amazing. He was shortly joined by a couple of fantastic ballet dancers who preformed for nearly an hour. Later about six opera singers joined and sang for about another 45 minutes or so. The cello player told me he had been with a major symphony in Switzerland for 20 years but wanted to come home. The quality of this talent would have left me feeling I would had got great value for my money if I had paid paid $100 for a ticket.

An impressive city square that rivals that of any other major city in the world. Don't miss the Templo Mayor ruins and museum just northeast of the cathedral. As a treat, you can watch the opening scene of James Bond 007's Spectre that was filmed in the Zocalo and other areas of the center of the city.

The hostel is in a convenient location in Centro, close to Zócalo Square, so it is good for sightseeing. Also, the basic facilities were decent. However, there were several serious problems.
