Everything was perfect. The hotel is near to the center. Parking garade is in the hotel. Perfect breakfast, great staff, sauna at the top of the hotel.

Extreme cleanliness and friendliness, the staff was amazing! The roof-top terrace with the pool is one of the best ones in Funchal if not the best!

The location is amazing. As soon as you step in the lobby, the fragrance and the vibrant ambiance of the hotel captures you. The staff is incredibly helpful. They answer your questions even before you arrive. When we were there, they helped out with most of the restaurant choices and excursion reservations. The outdoor dining area of Barcelo Funchal Oldtown is also the host to a live street concert on most of the lunch times. Around the corner, you can taste the best gelato on the island. If you go on a private cab tour around the island, make sure to ask for “Chico the driver” as your personal tour guide and yellow cab driver who speaks more than 3 languages and takes you around the history and contemporary status of the island through his vast knowledge. We will definitely book Barcelo Funchal Oldtown for our next visit to Madeira.

The room is always clean, spacious and has a great location with many delicious restaurants around. It’s a 10-15 min walk from the Old Town, and has a green park right next to it.

Beautiful traditional hotel very close to the old town and all its restaurants. A real Madeira experience that one can't get at all the characterless modern hotels. Superb facilities with two lovely pools and the ability to swim in the sea. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quiet at night - a real oasis- but within easy walking distance nightlife. A perfect place to stay.

Everything was even above my high expections: the location, the clean room with a comfortable bed, delicious breakfasts and an excellent work of the reception staff. I was especially impressed by a personal attention of Christina and Marco.

location was great near downtown. No need for car in this area. Pool fantastic and views . Restaurant staff was very helpful. Dinner is a must at the restaurant very good traditional food.

Central location, overall vibe and beds were very comfy. We had a courtyard/shopping mall interior room which was very quiet. Pool was cool.

Comfortable room, lovely pools, nice food and entertainment (I loved the folklore dancers), polite staff, car parks available, good location. No nonsense with reserved sun loungers by the pool in the mornings. You could always find some available and the staff would come and adjust the umbrella for you.

The hotel was clean and the staff was incredibly friendly. The pool view was stunning, and the breakfast was an absolute delight. It was incredibly diverse, offering a wide range of delicious hot dishes.
