It was clean with good room space and comfy. Excellent location just almost in front the Station. The breakfast was standard but good enough. I highly recommend this hotel to stay in Takayama if you look just a place to stay.

This historical house is very well maintained by the lovely host who was very helpful and nice to chat with. You have access to modern amenities (wifi, new bathroom, washing machine) We slept very well and felt comfortable on our two night stay - there is a good feeling about this home. The location is best reached by rental car. There are pretty walks locally in the rice fields and forest. Dinner and breakfast was delicious and made with local ingredients. You can also buy goat milk icecream during your stay :-) Hot tea is always available, our host was very accommodating of vegetarians too. I will return one day!

What an unbelievable experience—truly one for the soul. I still have to pinch myself every time I think about staying in an actual temple, where our room opened right into the main prayer area. The beauty was beyond words: majestic, serene, and humbling in every moment. Absolutely beautiful historic building with incredible views out onto the river and architecture of Hida. Our private bath and room were gorgeous and luxurious. Beds were very comfortable. The dinner and breakfast were phenomenal traditional experiences. The staff gifted us both with beautiful chopsticks for our honeymoon. Wonderful location- just steps to the historic streets of Hida and only a short walk from the station. If you are looking for a wonderful blend of the traditional ryokan experience with some modern luxuries thrown in, this is the place.

Everything was right, from start to finish. The place, the bed, the lounge, I’m literally planning to go back with my family. Is the first time ever, while traveling, that I’ve felt so comfortable in a hotel room. I felt like the room was a place to be, to stay, to live and it didn’t bother me to be there while a snowstorm was raging outside. The bed was amazing, even though it was a Japanese futon, the staff was super nice and welcoming and the free drinks at the lounge were amazing. This is the best hotel I’ve ever been and I will definitely return.
