The view is incredible, we loved the quiet and isolated feeling. The guesthouse is cozy and warm, designed beautifully- a perfect combination between modern facilities and an old fashioned cabin. The kitchen had everything we needed. The closest large supermarket is half an hour away so come prepared (because you won’t want to leave once you arrive). Highlights are the beautiful deck and outdoor bathtub. Paul and Lisa were so kind and helpful! We arrived and immediately extended another night!

I wanted a mountain experience and the views were lovely of the high mountain ranch - the hosts were friendly and helpful, the outdoor kitchen for cooking was fun (a small counter inside with toaster and kettle if you don’t feel like the great outdoors). It’s a small place, would be cozy for two but that’s what cottages are all about. Bed very comfy and linens exceptional! I stayed 2, could have stayed longer. Stars were amazing! The short 25 min drive to the beach was pretty and I found a swimming hole along the way. A great spot if you want something other than the beach 😊

The Shed with a View definitely has a view. A lovely, far reaching tranquil scene surrounds the accommodation. The location is quiet, private and no lights to mar the dark sky at night. The kitchen is well-appointed; we were able to easily cook meals. The wood-fired hot tub was a treat after a day of hiking and the comfortable bed had luxurious cotton sheets and plenty of blankets. The hosts were available if needed but assured we had our privacy.

Rode our bikes into this small crossroads, with a reservation at Kohatu, and hopes to just get rested. Instead we had a really great night here. The staff were fabulous, the food was great and the room was so nicely decorated and really comfortable. We felt like we’d stayed with family! Highly recommended.

Terrific place with amazing finishings, great layout and very nice touches such as fresh milk in the fridge. A gorgeous surrounding garden and a beautiful modern bathroom made for the perfect refuge.
