This beautifully restored 1879 villa is , as another review mentioned, as much an experience as accommodation. Ostentatiously decorated with soft classical music in the background. Thought I was in Versailles. There’s an outdoor garden next to the river where a fire usually burns and drinks are served. Great facilities, service and breakfast.

There are a few hotels located in the historical Russian mansions, but this one is definitely the best. It's truly a boutique hotel, thoroughly restoring and preserving the epoch's atmosphere. All the staff members are very hospitable, helpful, and proud of their workplace and their city with its rich exciting history. But for a rather short holiday, we'd have loved to stay longer, this place does feel like home far from home.
