O Muiño de Pena is a beautifully restored mill property tucked under a highway alongside a babbling river. We arrived at the hotel and were shown to room 5, a spacious room with two single beds and exposed beams above our heads. Tired from our day on the Camino we immediately settled in for a long nap on the comfortable beds with the sound of the river just outside our window. In the late afternoon we spent time enjoying the peaceful setting of the grounds. Dinner and breakfast, both served in the dining room, were exceptional.

Initially I didn't know what to think when I first got here. It takes a minute to settle in. Essentially, this is a restored ruin that took quite a bit of time to bring back to modern age. The gentleman who runs it is a host and you are living in his house with him. He's a wonderful resource for information about the area, the history of Galicia, the history of the pilgrimage. He tries very hard to make everyone at home, making coffee and introducing everyone to each other. There is no mention of this but there is a small kitchen that you can use such as a microwave and hot pot for water. In the summer, he also has a significant number of fruit trees so you can snack outside and he can show you the variety of species that has been planted. You just have to understand you're not staying in a Holiday inn, so this is not corporate stay. You're staying with a wonderful person who is doing his best to help you feel welcome. After settling in for a couple hours, I started to realize this and started to really enjoy my stay. Thank you so much for everything! Great stayed. The food was excellent and the rooms very clean. It has a laundry room, very convenient. I liked the idea to wake up early and you are already in the Camino surrounded by woods and birds singing

Staff were so friendly and lovely. Location on Camino was fabulous and close to great steak restaurant. Room was cosy and quaint. Sitting area with fireplace was relaxing. Bathroom super clean and shower was awesome
