Very nice and tidy place in a good neighborhood. Everything you could possibly need is included and the host is very nice and responsive.

The women working the desk were very helpful. I wish they understood more English. Masaru-san was most helpful and and knowledgeable. The location was most convenient: near Ranzan restaurant for breakfast. Close to Togetsukyo bridge, 4 train stations. The coffee choices were excellent and oishii. The pastries were the appropriate size and oishii.

Location is quiet, close to a few train stations and bus stops. Very clean and everything is new. Owner answers everything right away.

It’s a very beautiful house that immerses you in residential life in Kyoto! The manager is so kind, helpful, and easy to contact if you have any issues or questions. There are clear instructions around the house written in Japanese and English, so everything is easy to use. The house is located 1 block away from a bus stop, so it’s easy to access. I booked the property because of its location since it was most convenient to what I am doing, but I understand some guests may not like the distance from the inner city. It is not too close to the downtown area, however it is still very close to bus stops, convenience stores, restaurants, and a shopping mall! It’s about a 10/15-minute bus ride to downtown, which was not bad at all, especially considering the proximity to the Taishogun bus stop.

Lovely people who were really helpful and friendly. Only 10 minutes walk to Nijo station and subway so easy to get around and see the many sights of Kyoto. Traditional style apartment on the second floor with sliding doors and a mix of raised beds and mattresses on mats on the floor. Comfortable beds and good air conditioning. Functional kitchen with good size table, and low traditional table.

The property was great and the owner was so kind and considerate! If we are able to travel to the area again, we would book here again for sure.

Location was very convenient but no coffee because the pods did not fit the machine

It’s very spacious. Conditioning in every room and fully separate living room where 6 people can dine very comfortably. It has two toilets and two bathtub with shower, which is very rare to find in general. Every room can comfortably fit two people to sleep. So 8 people can sleep and keep the living room free at the same time. A host was very nice to answer the questions right away, but not late by local time.

We stayed at Historic Kyoto Villa for 3 nights, and it was an excellent experience for our family. What we liked: Very spacious accommodation — Perfect for a family of 5–6. The room layout gave everyone enough space to relax comfortably. Excellent kitchen and dining setup — The property has a well-equipped modern kitchen, and what we loved most was having two dining areas: one Western-style and one traditional Japanese-style seating. This added a unique cultural touch to our stay. Clean and well-maintained — Rooms, bathrooms, and kitchen were spotless. Everything felt fresh and well cared for. Great connectivity — The location has easy access to public transport, both buses and trains. Getting around Kyoto was very convenient from here. Overall, Historic Kyoto Villa offered a perfect combination of comfort, space, and convenience. Highly recommended for families visiting Kyoto.

The property is very nice and comfy, bathroom also very nice, big size of bathroom. Very good for group visit due to its lovely living room with small kitchen. We have made dinner and relax in the place. The parking area is quite hard to find, the sub-road is very small you will definitely doubt that if it's gonna fit haha. Overall is very nice and cozy.

We really enjoyed staying at this house. The place was spotless and we had everything we needed. It was smallish, but really efficient and well layed out for a small group (we had 4). It was a perfect jump spot to tour Kyoto. I would definitely recommend this property.

We LOVED our stay here in Kyoto! Our family stayed for a week in this home and absolutely adored the neighborhood location and charm! The host is the sweetest woman and very responsive. We enjoyed wandering the streets and finding small shops and cafes tucked around every corner. The location is super-convenient to bus and metro lines as well as several grocery stores. At the end of our week here, our teenage kids were begging us not to leave, we all loved it so, so, much!

The hosts were super friendly, the food was delicious and the experience of staying in a traditional ryokan was incredible. The bonus of a private tour to the bamboo forest was unexpected and greatly appreciated!
