The room was quiet, I didn’t hear other guests through the walls or ceiling/floor. There was plenty of space in the room. The free hot dogs and night were wonderful. The staff was kind and helpful. The WiFi was fast. The shower was luxurious and the water temperature was stable.

The place is very peaceful and it gives us the feeling of the old and classic style of Japan. It is also very close to a train station which makes our transportation very convenient. The food is excellent and freshly served. Services are also excellent and the owners are very kind to us. The last thing is we are very pleased of the owner driving us to a station on the day of checking out.

We LOVED our stay here in Kyoto! Our family stayed for a week in this home and absolutely adored the neighborhood location and charm! The host is the sweetest woman and very responsive. We enjoyed wandering the streets and finding small shops and cafes tucked around every corner. The location is super-convenient to bus and metro lines as well as several grocery stores. At the end of our week here, our teenage kids were begging us not to leave, we all loved it so, so, much!

Open from 2016, Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto features a Western-style restaurant and a tea house by a pond in Shakusuien Japanese garden as well as a lounge. Kyoto Station is a 7-minute drive away.

The hotel’s interior was stunning, complemented by a beautiful garden setting. The service level was exceptional, and the staff were highly professional, assisting with packing my bags and even handling shipment arrangements. The reception staff were also very friendly, making my stay even more enjoyable.

The house is so beautiful! If you want a traditional Japanese experience this is the place! There are amazing wood carvings in the bedrooms and everything was so neat and clean. The beds were so, so cozy and comfortable! The outdoor soaking tub was amazing! It helped ease our muscle aches after walking all day.

The staff were friendly and accessible during my stay. I Japanese to communicate with them. I LOVED the kotatsu (I stayed in January). Since most attractions closed at 5:00, I ended up spending a little of time relaxing here. There is a bus stop only a 2 minute walk away, but look for the sign because Google maps stopped me too soon. The bus comes about every hour. The train station is a 20 minutes walk away. There is a small mall that has a grocery store, clothing store, restaurants, and a good viewing spot, about 10 minutes walk away. There is a burner, some pots, seasoning, soy sauce, oil, tea, and instant coffee.

We loved this place! Super clean and modern, and being a double-story apartment meant we had the whole space to ourselves. All the basic essentials were provided (toothbrush, toothpaste, detergent, shampoo, shower gel, towels), which made things really convenient. The only downside is that it’s a bit far from the train stations—about a 15-minute walk to the nearest main station 😅. Still, it’s a great stay if you don’t mind the walk, and you get to enjoy views of the beautiful Kyoto University! 😄
