Quiet location, quaint traditionally styled ryokan with a modern and fresh feel, spotlessly cleaned with lovely staff. And located directly opposite a public baths, so convenient. This is a Ryokan with clean and tidy little rooms with everything you need for a good nights sleep. They are small, so if you want bigger go to a hotel! It’s a prefect size to just have a bath and then crash asleep after a big day exploring Kyoto. We are a family of three and found them perfectly for our 4 days in the city. Staff are welcoming and friendly and eager to help. The included breakfast is plentiful with traditional Japanese dishes on offer as well as a delicious, fresh and varied western style breakfast too. The breakfast / eating room looks out to an immaculately kept traditional garden that’s picture perfect. Theres even a cosy lounge / sitting room to hang and sip tea in and play some cards or do a little bit of drawing. My family and I loved chilling there after our hot baths across the road. If you want a taste of a traditional style inn, then this is a perfect choice.

It’s a very old Ryokan but it is well maintained. It has its own public bath so you get to experience it without an added cost and it is very convenient. Our room had its own bath too. The dinner was very good, every dish served was good. The Japanese lady who served us was very kind and attentive. I also liked the garden view from the room. The train station is nearby.

The staff were wonderful - we had to reorganize our check-in time several times, and they were really nice and helpful. They even helped us send our luggage straight to Tokyo and were very attentive about a gluten allergy one of us has. The food was a solid 10 out of 10. We had an outstanding dinner and a traditional Japanese breakfast with all the small, beautifully presented dishes.

Very clean and elegant hotel. The staff were courteous and did an excellent job accommodating our limited language skills. The traditional room was everything I expected. The tatami were new, and the futon was very comfortable.

Okami-san was very kind and caring toward me. She was showing me every traditional manner and usage in the Ryokan. She even suggested me some place to eat. The traditional breakfast was amazing and it was handmade.

Friendly, helpful staff speaking good english. Spotless cleaning, beautifully arranged rooms with everything necessary. Loved the provided yukata, when I went to the onsen it was empty as well. My room was one of the simpler ones, but had a great view of the Nidec tower. I think my pictures don't do it justice...

It was by far the most authentic and best stay in our whole trip across Japan. Tome and her Partner were amazing hosts who made us feel so welcome. The facilities are brilliant, and the futon beds are very comfy. Tea made for us free of charge and she arranged a taxi for us on our departure. If anyone is visiting Kyoto I recommend experiencing this Ryokan for at least 1 night.

Even though the ryokan was just next to the big streets, the area was really calm and there was no noise from the outside, so it's a good place to go when you don't want to be far from shopping areas and museums while still getting to sleep peacefully. Futons were comfortable to sleep on and the owners are really nice :D
