There were so many great aspects about the property including the spacious and modern lobby, bathhouses, and views of Mt. Fuji, but by far the most exceptional and memorable part of the stay was the STAFF! Every staff member we encountered was so kind and helpful — they made a significant effort to speak English and make the international travelers comfortable.

I stayed for 2 nights as a solo traveller. I enjoyed the Japanese-styled room and the onsen, and the place was peaceful with wonderful views of Mt Fuji and the gardens (I was fortunate to have good weather during my stay). The breakfast buffet had a wide variety of choices and was delicious. The staff were professional and helpful, and there was a handy bus shuttle between the hotel and Kawaguchiko station. I had a wonderful time, and would highly recommend!

The host was so nice and caring, did everything to make us feel comfortable and dedicated his time and effort to help us with anything. We loved using the private onsen (there were a few) every evening after a long day. The area is very nice and we took the free bikes for a ride around the lake, in front of mount fuji. The bus station is a- 15 min walk but we managed! Overall we had a really great stay, and we would come there again if we ever come back to Japan!

We were warmly greeted in this classic Japanese house. It felt very typical. It wasn’t very luxurious but it was very clean and everything you might need was available. The hosts were wonderful and cheerful. Although the language barrier was there we managed to communicate well! The dinner and breakfast were so good and the quantities were huge! The onsen is very nice on the roof.

For me it was really unusual experience. Sleeping on the futon in Japanese ryokan. I will remember it forever. The host is very nice, he care for his guests all the time. The Japanese breafast he served was exellent. Bathroom was shared and also typical for Japan. The ryokan is about 20 minutes walk from Kawaguchiko station and better ask the host for transfer - because there are no sidewalks on the road it is diffucult to walk with luggage.

We loved the country club look and feel of the hotel. It was well furnished, lots of attentive staff, the lounge food service was incredible, interesting and more than enough for all the guests. The views were absolutely memorable. We were in room 203 which was a large room with a Tatami area. The ladies only Onsen was divine, I only wished my husband could have joined me for the relaxing experience. The couples Onsen was a bit small and booking times restrictive. Plus extra cost of Y3,300.

Lovely spacious traditional tatami room with air conditioning. Delicious breakfast. Sweet and helpful owners. Good location only meters from the lake, and a fantastic view of Mt Fuji from our bedroom window. Big onsen-style bath. Green tea and hot water provided in our room.

Togawaso was a new experience - staying in a Ryokan with futons as beds. It is one the lake with a beautiful park 2 minutes away. Property is very clean and toilets are clean and neat Common bathing area was ok as mostly it is deserted - but warm pool inside it was great and relaxing. Breakfast (western) was good.

The view of Mount Fuji from the room is fantastic, it would be hard to get this view from many of the other ryokans around this area near the lake. The location is close to the riverside park so you really get both the lake outside and the mountain view. The hot spring bath seemed to have a geothermal certificate for legitimacy. The host spoke English and there are only a handful of rooms so service felt very personal. It was exceptional and definitely a highlight of my trip. There are signs and information sheets in English.

Akaishi Ryokan was the perfect traditional Japanese experience located on the shores of Lake Kawaguchi. Our room looked onto the beautiful Mt Fuji and the rooftop terrace has 360 views of Fuji and also the lake. The rooms are cosy, with tradition futon beds, and the breakfasts are also served beautifully (be aware to specify in advance if you have dietary requirements as the food is just served as you enter).
