Smedsgarden Hotel was a gem of a discovery for us last minute. The location is right off a main highway, but far enough away and well insulated that highway noise is not a problem. The setting is so peaceful in farm country with lovely options for a walk. The family hosts are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is an exceptional buffet with ever so many delicious choices! The decor is antique and eclectic, yet welcoming. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and hallways, and built to last, quality materials balance out older furnishings. You almost feel as if you’ve stepped back in time and received genuine warm hospitality when doing so.

This place demonstrates the efficiency of a IKEA space. It’s well thought out for the guests. The place is equipped with everything we needed and more. The hosts are very responsive and helpful. There are books and colouring books for my daughter. We highly recommend this place to travellers with kids.

Peaceful location, quiet yet accessible to our route. Clean, well stocked with pots/pans/cutlery and a coffee pot to make our meals (BYO coffee and filter, and all your food/spices). It had a nice full kitchen and fridge/freezer. Books and basic furnishing to feel “homey” for relaxing but also clean and universal (clearly a rental and not otherwise a private home). Loved the location, wild plants and seeing little wild strawberries growing under our steps.
