Great location and charming accomodation and room. The onsens were some of the best I've ever used in Japan, the extra hot bath is especially great on a cold night. Staff were extremely helpful and showed me places worth visiting in Kusatsu. Would definitely stay again.

The location was ideal as it was just a minute away from both rentals and the gondola. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was delicious every morning. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating any time we needed anything. We will return there when we visit Nozawa Onsen next time.

It was amazing! The location is central. It takes just a short walk to see most attractions. Our ryokan (Moegi) was spacious and so beautiful. The lady at the reception is a very kind soul and made us feel so welcome. The pudding made by her husband as a welcome gift was delicious. This was one of my favorite places from our three week vacation.

Everything about this place suited me perfectly! The location, the amazing room, the hospitality, the cafe-style included breakfast & the fantastic sushi restaurant in the same building. The sushi was so good I ate there both nights of my stay. Looking forward to returning in winter sometime.

Magical location, super kind and helpful people, my room was a dream with a fantastic view over the river and mountains. Even though it's not directly in Shibu Onsen and you therefore don't have access to the onsens there, the private Onsen in Yamazakiya Ryokan was beautiful and so peaceful. Their breakfast was a great experience too. I'd highly recommend and look forward to coming back another time.

The location was great, there was plenty of snow so the skiing was great. The staff were very friendly. The 'Black Cat' service offered at the hotel efficiently and economically transported all our ski gear to our last hotel for the trip home while we did some touring around Japan. We did enjoy our stay.

This was our third visit to this property. Fantastic ski in ski out location. Staff very helpful, and more and more speak English. High standard of room amenities available to select in the foyer - body lotion, face masks etc. First time staying on a lower floor not in “comfort room 5F” and it was totally fine. Great views from the picture window out over the snow. Excellent to be able to do some laundry - washers free, driers very reasonably priced. BYO detergent.

Great location, excellent staff. We thought we would eat out in the evenings, but there are’’t many restaurants near by, so we booked dinner each night (and had breakfast included), the food was great with Japanese style, loads of options for us and the kids. Super fun, welcoming and easy place to stay.

The staff is so helpful and wonderful. The check in procedure was very nice and homey. The facilities are very good as well, especially the outdoor onsen that you can book for a private slot. The room was very spacious. The kaiseki dinner was also amazing! All in all, a very nice ryokan in a good location for seeing the snow monkeys.

The location is a long way from town, so the owner will drive you 3x per day to your destinations. Make sure you bring his phone number with you in case he forgets to pick you up as it is an expensive taxi ride home and you might not be able to find your way back in the dark. I liked the rural setting but there is only one restaurant to walk to. The room gets cold in winter so I liked the large thick duvet and the hot water bottle. The living room is quite comfortable, with a couch and fireplace and the bathrooms are modern and clean.

Great place to stay for ski ski out. Easy to get to from Nagano via bus. Friendly, helpful staff. Clean rooms, comfy beds, good breakfast and dinner. You can hire all your skiing equipment plus 2 and 3 day lift tickets here at Aspen Shiga. Cafe downstairs for lunch and they opened the downstairs bar a couple of nights. Good onsen.

Chalet Shiga location was excellent. It was located right opposite the Ichinose Diamond ski area. The bus to Nagano was only a short stroll up the road and the ski hire was over the road. The library/sitting room was fantastic for morning coffee and a read of my book. The staff at breakfast were fantastic - very kind and helpful with breakfast.

Gorgeous location and extremely friendly and helpful staff. The hotel has a very homely feel and an adorable dog. They have everything you need, including ski rental. The hot baths gave a cosy, onsen vibe and we highly looked forward to it after a long day in the cold mountains. Overall, highly recommend. A really nice place to stay.
