Althea was an incredible host. The atmosphere was sublime - an oasis in a desert environment. The room had everything that one could think of and more. The pool was bliss and the trees made for welcome shade in the scorching Karoo sun. The accommodation wa on a different level. Perfection personified. Thank you.

Well...... this is a place well worth the detour. The Ibis, Stirling restaurant run by Barbara offers an authentic Karoo tasting menu which is well worth trying. Not only are you staying in the middle of the desert but now you can now taste it. And not at Cape Town fine dining prices either! The town is rather quiet and probably suites most visitors looking for serenity and peace! The rooms was comfortable with just the right amount of karma for a happy stay!

Wonderful stay in a beautiful little Karoo town. Accommodation has everything you need and more for a relaxing stay. Interior and exterior decoration quirky and tasteful. Will definitely stay there again.

Great location in walking distance of everything

This is truely an exceptional gem in Nieu Bethesda. The Cottage has everything you need for a comfortable night's stay. We love the swimming pool adjacent to the property. The decor is beautiful and the attention to detail of a high standard. The layout of the Cottage is perfect for 3 people. Everthing from the towels to the crockery are high quality. Arranging and receiving the keys were very easy and everyone including the owner were very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend staying at the Onion Cottage, I would even go for a longer period because of the comfort and quiet surroundings.

Great stay in a large unit. It is very well equipped and had everything for a longer stay. Well situated in a very special little town. The hostess was very helpful. Highly recommended.

We were received by the owner personally who was very friendly and welcoming. We booked a single room, but Hester upgraded our booking to a self service cottage with excellent facilities. Breakfast was included in our booking and we still had the privilege of enjoying our breakfasts. Hester's husband also gave us an tour of the fossil museum, which we thoroughly enjoyed. A supper were offered at a very fair price, which we accepted and it was delivered to our cottage. Very tasty Karoo tripe and a chicken potjiekos.

The property itself is amazing. We love how you've restored and converted the historical building. As a lover of old maps, I also found the large wall map hanging downstairs to be fascinating.
