Spotless and charming 1930's hotel that had been brought back to life. May it always be like that. The best hotel in the are by a mile, so far as the ones I have stayed in.

The Rainbow House was bright, colourful, and perfect for families. 🌈🏡 Our kids loved all the toys 🧸 inside and especially enjoyed feeding the goats 🐐 and seeing the chickens 🐓 in the barn behind the house. The house was very clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay. It was a unique and relaxing experience, and our kids didn’t want to leave. ❤️ We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to families. ⭐️

Beautiful property. Barrington River running through through the rear boundary. Amazing bird life not to mention the girls in the chook pen providing us with fresh eggs daily. Fabulously maintained gardens. So well stocked we took home a lot of things we didn’t need to bring. Hosts that bend over backwards to make sure you have a great stay. Outdoor hot /cold showers were our favourite perk.

Perfect location and facilities for our famly trip to the area. Great host with frequent communication and useful updates to help with getting to the location. Known limitation with mobile coverage, but addition of wi-fi access was a great bonus during the stay. Would definitely be back when we pass through next time.

Gloucester: A Perfect Stopover on the Scenic Route from...

Gloucester: A Perfect Stopover on the Scenic Route from Newcastle to Armidale Gloucester is a fantastic country town that makes for an ideal stop when travelling from Newcastle to Armidale via Bucketts Way and Thunderbolts Way. With its friendly locals, great food, and stunning scenery, it’s more than just a place to refuel—it’s a destination worth enjoying. Great Coffee & Food For a coffee break, The Common Coffee Shop is a must-visit. They serve excellent coffee and are open long hours, making it a reliable stop whether you're passing through early in the morning or later in the day. If you’re after a hearty meal, Gloucester Roundabout Inn serves great pub meals with generous portions, and their wine list isn’t bad either. Accommodation Options The Bucketts Way Motel is conveniently located near the centre of town, offering clean and comfortable rooms. Gloucester Holiday Park is a budget-friendly option—while it’s a little rough around the edges, it’s cheap, and the cabins are dog-friendly. Debbie, the manager, is fantastic and always welcoming, adding to the park’s charm. Scenic Beauty & Relaxation Gloucester is surrounded by stunning landscapes, including the striking Bucketts Mountains and the nearby Barrington Tops. Whether you're stopping for a short break or staying overnight, it’s a great place to stretch your legs, grab a quality coffee, and enjoy a bit of country hospitality before continuing your journey.

The birds and location was absolutely stunning and so peaceful. Loved seeing the Roos when we went for a walk. Would have loved to have them come close to our cabin but I think the dog in cabin 1 was frightening them off. The amount of birds that came to visit was amazing. So lovely to sit and just stare at the scenery while listening to many different birds. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. I don’t recommend older people staying as they may find it difficult climbing into the sunken bath for a shower. We however, loved having a bath with the spa on.

We loved the grounds with barbecue areas, a cosy day-bed swing to relax and enjoy the birds and the mountains. Hosts Mel and Justin filled us in with the best walks to take, and some of the history of the area. Our room was very comfortable, a king bed and soothing colours. A kitchenette meant we could make a light meal one night, while we indulged in a beautifully cooked meal the second night. A spa bath after several hours hiking the trails was luxury indeed.

Kingaley is a wonderful family and pet friendly property.

Kingaley is a wonderful family and pet friendly property. We did two of the walking trails at Dungog Commons which was a short drive from the accommodation. It rained during part of our stay but it was lovely to sit outside on the covered deck and watch the wildlife. The house paddock is well maintained with short grass perfect for children and pets to use. The property is private and we could have happily stayed here for longer than the 3 nights we booked.

This country location requires that you arrive with most of your required groceries and grog. Dungog is a 30 min drive and a small town so you might not find what you need i.e. Gluten free or other dietary items. The internet and phone signal isn't available every where so understand where you are going and how while in signal. I will definitely return as I think there is more to explore but it hard to leave the serenity of the house once you have arrived.

We needed a wind-down break after a busy year. Hidden in a quiet bush setting, but only 15 minutes from beautiful Glousester. Birdlife abounds, with daily visits from Fairy Wren, King Parrots and a wandering Brush Turkey. Easy access to bush walks, and only 90 mins to Aussie Ark conservation centre ( a great day out ). Mountain Maid Gold Mine tour only 5 minutes away. A full kitchen and barbecue made it easy to relax after a big day

The national park has tremendous views and varied greenery, particularly the Gloucester Tops loop, though are understandably a fair drive to access, a 4WD vehicle gets you further in. Rain will bring the leeches out climbing up your shoes but they're fairly harmless! Driving over multiple causeway bridges adds interest to exploring.
