Apart from the great accommodation and adequate breakfast provisions the manager was amazing. I accidently did some significant damage (broken window) and she was so understanding. We agreed a $ for compensation and everyone was happy :-)

The location was quiet and calm surrounded by beautiful trees. The space is private and cozy. There were lovely touches, like fresh flowers, fresh firewood set up for a fire in the little fireplace, and plenty of fruit, eggs, breakfast meats, milk, juice, fresh ground coffee, and tea options for breakfast. The staff were friendly and responsive. The location is good for a quick walk into town for shopping and food as well as to get to spaces to walk in nature. I could not recommend this place enough!

The 2 story cottage was lovely, I loved the antique furnishings, enjoyed the huge corner spa & the open fire place made it the perfect atmosphere for a romantic getaway. Great location for hiking around the mountain. The host Brett was lovely & respected our privacy by leaving a key for entry. The fresh food was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend for a hills getaway. Thanks Michelle.

The cottage was luxury plus and tastefully decorated in a beautiful setting. It was close to a village with lovely shops and cafes and beautiful scenery. The cottage offered everything you could possibly want and the hosts had literally thought of everything.

Olinda is a great place to stay for a couple of nights.

Olinda is a great place to stay for a couple of nights. There is a lot to do and heaps of short trips to be taken . If you like botanical gardens, there is the most magnificent gardens near the main township. A great place to have Devonshire tea!

This motel is set in some beautiful gardens away from the main town of Lilydale. The rooms are very big with a gigantic double, double bed, It has to be seen to be believed. The room is equipped with everything except a microwave. The bathroom was spacious and very clean. It is a few kilometres from any towns, and on a hill, so you do need a car to access the towns, but delivery options are given as part of the room information.

Our room was perfect, the bed was wonderful, even my husband who is a poor sleeper, slept well, the shower was fantastic and the patio was a delightful surprise complete with a pond and wildlife to help unwind and relax. The rooms are stage in a way that you feel like you are on your own but if you had children, there was space for them to burn energy and be cooped in a room. Dinner in the bistro was just normal food, not special but good and the staff everywhere were friendly and smiled, i appreciated the smiles. a few miles up the road was the township of Mt Evelyn where wee found yummy bakeries and shops to explore and nearby nursuries often had breakfasts. You need to stay here.

The most we liked was the lovely look inside. The bed, spa. What was disappointing was the breakfast. Heating. Plus housekeeping not checking if the Manor had all supplies. Had to call staff to bring us the items.

We liked the rural aspect of the town.

We liked the rural aspect of the town. As we came for a private function, we didn't have any time to explore the local attractions. As we have been there before we have seen some of the area. I particularly liked travelling up Mt Dandenong to Olinda for the eateries and the gift shops. We found that we needed a car to get around.

Winding roads through majestic gums and gullies full of tree ferns , light filtering through the landscape, absolutely magical. And easy access to Olinda, Kallista and surrounding the surrounding villages.

Such a beautiful quaint town.

Such a beautiful quaint town. Plenty to see in Sassafras and in neighbouring suburbs like Olinda. The bakery was impressive, food was amazing. Cloudhill, a 5 acres of garden and nursery 7 min drive away was majestic and worth a visit. Olinda has a great bottle shop with plenty of craft beers and a fabulous yarn store.

Emerald is a lovely little village in the Dandenong Ranges.

Emerald is a lovely little village in the Dandenong Ranges. It has the most excellent and lavish bakeries I’ve ever seen, stocked to the ceiling with breads. Cookies, scones, cakes, main meals to take away and a great spot for coffee each morning. It’s lovely to walk around lake emerald. Jump on puffing Billy if you book ahead as it’s really popular. Or at least wave it off from the station which is fun too. Endless forest walks locally and can explore other towns in the ranges such as Belgrave and Olinda. The ranges to me have a European feel and a place where time has stood still. And it’s such an easy drive from Melbourne.

Belgrave is a base rather than a destination, unless you are going on Puffing Billy. It does have a good range of restaurants and cafes but the other villages are better for craft and sightseeing. The Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens at Olinda were absolutely stunning. Cloudehill is definitely worth visiting but the restaurant gets busy at weekends.

A little gem of a town surrounded by friendly people, great food and beautiful nature surroundings. A great family getaway entertaining two young children. From a day out with Thomas at Lakeside reserve, parks, fishing and bush walks made us have such a positive expirience. Did I mention how good the coffee and food is at Marias Cafe 🙊
