The building was amazing with the grand cedar staircase going up to the 2nd level. The glass doors from the rooms lead out to the large huge verandah where you could sit and enjoy the view having a cold drink.

4) A great Fossil exhibition centre.

6) Good (basic) trip to Mt Isa from Townsville on the 'QR Inlander' train.
7) Mt Isa could be a great location to the next chapter of 'MAD MAX' movie set!!!
08) On the last night - I bought a take away meal from one of the Thai Restaurants - which was great!! Food, service and everything.

1) 50% of the shops were vacant!
2) So so sad to see so many Indigenous Australians wondering aimlessly around Mt Isa - clinging to alcoholic beverages. This was very shameful I thought.
3) In Mt Isa, there was a lot of general rubbish in the streets, at least in the CBD. Food & Drink packaging.. galore. Where is the 'Local Council'?
4) Had a take away meal at a Chinese Restaurant... the owner asked me if I needed a receipt - which I thanked him for -... and the cash register receipt had a single digit number....'04' 🙄🙄🙄 really!! So was my meal the 4th sale for the year? ...Something wrong there.... Hmmm 🤨🧐🤔

An interesting place to visit.
An interesting place to visit. All the usual activities - QANTAS, Stockman’s Hall and the Starlight cruise and dinner. Outvto Winton to see the Age of Dinosaurs too.
Chicken wings a the Longreach Tavern were exceptional.

1. The Age of Dinosaurs Museum is a "Must See". You will not regret taking the tour, marvellously educational and a lot of fun. The staff are top notch. The shop is great, be prepared to purchase for your grand kids!
2. Steak dinners at Tattersall's Hotel - awesome porterhouse.

Book your tours early before you arrive if you have limited time, as I was disappointed to find two of the things i wanted to do most of all on my stopover, were already fully booked by 12.30 when i arrived.
If you are traveller with more time available this would not be an issue.

We loved the markets - a great variety of interesting stalls.
The lookout was spectacular at sunset.
Fun to drive to Mt Isa for the day.
If you are going to Mary Kathleen the road to the actual mine site is absolutely dreadful & only go if you have a vehicle with good clearance it is very rough.

On the corner opposite the Hotel Shakespeare was an amazing gift shop. There was someone in the shop as tables and chairs were out by around 8.30 so thought we would check it out around 9.00. Unfortunately it didn't open until maybe 9.30 so the man didn't make any sales. He wandered around inside .Just feel like these towns need the support but the hours certainly don't fit the tourists so unfortunately no dollars spent here.

The Cunnamulla Hot Pools is a must-do for anyone visiting Cunnamulla. The Zen Room is the perfect way to start the relaxation experience. Make sure you're there for the sunset BYO session.
Cunnamulla Bushlands is another must-do for visitors who enjoy bird watching and learning about western Qld environments. The waterhole or billabong and its residents will enthrall you. Another perfect sunset opportunity.
Cunnamulla Off The Rails is an essential activity. This informative, enjoyable and important 3D Light and Sound experience offers so much information about the place and its people. Just like the Hot Pools and the Bushlands, I'd see this again.
Exploring Cunnamulla's streets on a gentle morning or late afternoon walk enables so many lovely discoveries. From beautiful bougainvillea spilling over fences or climbing huge trees, to the poignant information at The Robbers Tree, and the welcoming coffee stand at The Store across from John Kerr Park, you'll find all sorts of things to delight you. And then, just to make your day - go outside and look up at night. The stars will have you enthralled.

Blackall has an excellent information centre with very helpful staff. A map of the town with major attractions is available there. The hot baths are a great place to visit for the cost of $2. We also enjoyed the wool scour tour and the locals were very friendly and helpful. There is a walking track and some very good public art on various town buildings.

The town of Richmond had many lovely attractions...Kronosaurus Korner is not to be missed and has a cafe & good coffee. The lake has a walking path surrounding it, with the opportunity to fish for barra. The Mud Hut Motel where we dined both nights, had great food & service. The weather was perfectly cool, but sunny during our June stay.
