The GOOD points about Mt Isa QLD 🇦🇺 Australia 1) Big wide open streets..... 2) A great history of Mining in Australia 3) Great Wide open spaces... 4) A great Fossil exhibition centre. 5) Great Weather 6) Good (basic) trip to Mt Isa from Townsville on the 'QR Inlander' train. 7) Mt Isa could be a great location to the next chapter of 'MAD MAX' movie set!!! 08) On the last night - I bought a take away meal from one of the Thai Restaurants - which was great!! Food, service and everything. The BAD points about Mt Isa QLD 🇦🇺 Australia 1) 50% of the shops were vacant! 2) So so sad to see so many Indigenous Australians wondering aimlessly around Mt Isa - clinging to alcoholic beverages. This was very shameful I thought. 3) In Mt Isa, there was a lot of general rubbish in the streets, at least in the CBD. Food & Drink packaging.. galore. Where is the 'Local Council'? 4) Had a take away meal at a Chinese Restaurant... the owner asked me if I needed a receipt - which I thanked him for -... and the cash register receipt had a single digit number....'04' 🙄🙄🙄 really!! So was my meal the 4th sale for the year? ...Something wrong there.... Hmmm 🤨🧐🤔

Rodeo and funny things that happened, also losing my husband 🤪 not for long, police very helpful Underground hospital was great too Oh! KissKam was funny and girl winning $1000 dancing and showing lacey bra hehehe The little cowgirls/boys dressed up properly and falling off animal and bowing to the crowd It was all better than a tonic Will be back next year yehhhh

the cab driver I had was fantastic. we were caught up in floods and couldn't drive through, this place was a gem. we had passed through many times and avoided the overlander. but hey it will be our preferred stop in future.

We were there in March which is just before major tourist...

We were there in March which is just before major tourist season and some the of main attractions weren't operating till early April, so we missed out. Would highly recommend the Hard Times mine tour, it was fascinating.

Mount Isa is outback so don't expect big city facilities. The people are generally friendly. Most modern conveniences are available. Remember it is always hot in Mount Isa so dress accordingly, stay hydrated and stay sun-safe. Taxi and Uber transport is available.

this visit was purely a flying visit, only stayed because we needed to sleep & not travel at night. we did eat at the Buff club, we were not impressed. the vegetables were drowned cold frozen vege. the schniti had a "wing" attached

Working in Mt Isa for 2 weeks is challenging when hotel rooms do not offer a kitchen or washing machine. Your place on Davidson provided a well stocked kitchen and the whole apartment was spotless. Communicating with the host was easy and Bettina responded quickly. Much nicer than a hotel room!

Central Point Motel is a basic, clean and centrally located accommodation two minutes walk from Mount Isa outback discovery Centre and five minutes from the centre of town. It was quiet and provided basic self catering facilities of microwave toaster kettle fridge a few plates and some cutlery.
