Kamloops

One of 923 reviews:
"Kamloops is a friendly, family-oriented city - truly The City of Tournaments. I recommend the city pool. It's bright and clean, and there was hardly anyone there ! The Koh-I-Nor Nepalese restaurant has an excellent lunch buffet. The traffic is agitated: folks tend to drive like they're still on the highway - on the city streets, and racing shopping carts around Costco."

"The local museum was VERY informative, wonderful exhibits of railway times. Information about the Japanese internment camps was quite enlightening, we had no idea that they existed in this area, and the history of the Canoe River train disaster was truly revealing. We took a stroll along part of the Cranberry Marsh - beautiful view from atop the observation tower."

"Perfect location for an e-bike trip, Penticton is very central to the amazing network of Okanagan cycling trails. We did 158km in 3 days, cycling Penticton-Naramata, Chute Lake-Myra Canyon (Chute Lake area NOT recommended for cycling) and Oliver-Osoyoos. Penticton had everything we needed in terms of services and the hotel we stayed at was ideal. Most noteworthy: EVERYONE in this town (and I'm not referring to tourists, but locals) seems so HAPPY. Must be one of the most smiley-happy places. Loved our stay and the friendly people."

"We enjoyed our stay in Clearwater. We loved going to see the waterfalls. We only got to see the 6 "main" falls. Take your time, as some are a bit of a hike, but nothing too strenuous. We enjoyed the Happy Hiker and the Hop 'n' Hog Restaurants. The Happy Hiker had great service and a very good diner menu. At the Hop 'N' Hog the portions are huge. Bring an appetite. Our meal was delicious. We were sorry to have missed a tour of Clearwater Lake. We arrived after the last tour was gone. We also rand out of time to do any rafting. Something to do another time."

The hotel is very clean, and the staff is polite, especially James. He was very patient in sharing recommendations for nearby attractions and restaurants. This trip was to celebrate a birthday, and they accommodated our request to have our rooms next to each other. At one point, there was a sudden power outage in our room, but the staff responded quickly to assess the situation and restore the electricity. The only downside was that the soundproofing in the room wasn’t great, making it easy to hear children crying. However, I still highly recommend this hotel!

Lovely hotel and location. Our stay was short so did not use spa, pools etc. But we went for a wonderful walk through a nut farm and neighborhood with beautiful houses to admire! The lake was beautiful. Wish we had had a longer stay planned here! Room was comfortable and clean. Good coffee. Close to restaurants, starbucks and some stores. Only complaint is can't check in til 5pm and have to be out by 10 am. Most hotels 3 or 4 pm check in, and 11 am check out.

I live an hour outside Kamloops so I'm very familiar with it. It has grown extensively over the years. There is a lot to do, especially outdoors, but it's VERY busy and can be a bit of a chore to get around because of all the traffic. I absolutely loved my time in Penticton! Three nights were simply not enough, and I’m already planning to come back next year for a full week. Dinner at Elma Restaurant (eatatelma) was amazing and a must-try. I fell in love with Skaha Lake and also loved the beauty and atmosphere of Okanagan Lake. The scenery, relaxed vibe, and outdoor experiences make Penticton a truly special place. We also enjoyed Apres Ice Cream! Blueberry flavour!

Everything is closed on Monday's. We happened to pass through on a Monday night and though we'd wander around to do some shopping, but barely anything was open. Even if it was, I don't think we would have found much. The staff in stores that were open were truly delightful people, but I can figure out why anyone under the age of 65 would wanna go to Vernon. Maybe I am missing something but the lakes can be easily access from nearby nicer and trendier towns. Save your time and money... go elsewhere.

We stayed at a lovely place, the Bear’s Claw Lodge. The creek is just the thing to soak your feet or swim for the more ambitious. Great taco place just north of Cache Creek that was so busy, we thought we were in Vancouver! Good food and peaceful outdoor seating. We noticed other retro mid-century motels worth trying, such as the Destination Inn. Cache Creek is Just right for dinner and a comfortable place to sleep.
