Collina d’Oro Resort is a very quiet , luxurious place with an exquisite peaceful view to Lugano lake, and a harmonious nature.
We enjoyed the palatable Mediterranean and Swiss food, and the special intercontinental breakfast with nature view.
Warm swimming pool with sparkling shiny waters nested in the heart of the surrounding mountains and hills. This is not poetry , it is the actual charm and spirit of the resort.
It is recommended for families, and nature lovers!
It is to 8 mn away from Tasis the American Summer school by car, and there is a bus transporting yo the Lugano center every 1 hour.
A small library in the hotel lobby for readers!
I personally highly recommend this place, to spend a healthy and mind restoring vacation👍

We had a lovely stay for 3 nights with our family with 2 kids.
-friendly and very helpful staff
-the room was clean and had all we needed - we could sleep well, enough space, good fscilities and a balcony with a garden + pool view
- 2 outside pools incl. a heated one - we didn't use it much due to the weather/ May, however, in the summer it must be nice
- pleasant breakfast (a bit smaller choice, however, tasty
-we had a dinner once - it was very good
-a bus stop right next to the hotel (you get a free card for transport) - good option besides a car

I loved the family atmosphere this hotel provides. The rooms were nicely decorated. The staff was remarkably helpful. I asked for help with a doctor appointment for my wife and they were very cooperative and called and made the appointment. We were upgraded to a superior room with a great balcony overlooking the lake. Excellent breakfast in a room again overlooking the lake. Nice touch that booking a participating hotel includes the local transit pass (Ticino) which gives free travel on the local train travel and discounts for things like the funicular to the San Salvatore summit.

All our needs were met! The staff is incredible, they really do go above and beyond for you. The lake view room was amazing. The facilities were great, we loved the spa area and pools. The lakeside lounge area was gorgeous. The evening piano player was an unexpected bonus!

Lugano is an amazing place to visit.
Lugano is an amazing place to visit. Stunning views of the lake and the mountains surrounding it. Cute villages at a short boat trip distance. Nice walks along the water and good bathing opportunities. People are friendly, food is good and everything is clean. It's the best combination of the Swiss and the Italian way of life. The only real issue is the high costs of everything. Otherwise we would love to stay a week minimum each year!
The city is very easy to get around with a good local transportation network as well as the boats crossing the lake. We took the boat from Paradiso to Gandria and then walked the Olive path back (warning for many stairs up and down, but a beautiful walk!). Swam at a Lido in Grotto Elvezia, which was a perfect mid-way stop, and then managed to match a bus perfectly as the nice path changed to a steep sidewalk with zero shadow as approaching Lugano. Jumped of one stop before Lido di Lugano (where there's a big Migros supermarket with a café) for a late lunch, used the playground across the street, and then finished the afternoon by enjoying the facilities at Lido di Lugano.

The facility is completely unknown ... even the hotel across the street could barely help me figure out where to go and what to do in terms of check-in. I would suggest you give the directions to people well in advance and explain how the very impersonal check-in works. The message I received in my phone was unworkable without wi-fi and still
very unclear with wi-fi. I wasted over 90 minutes from arrival by van in Bissone to arrival in our room ... driving around aimlessly, looking for a sign of the property, asking many people who knew nothing, etc.
Once everything was clear and we wee settled, dinner took a long walk to get to, but that was worth it. I suggest having a fan avaible for ventilation, as the one window does not allow the flat to breathe.

Not a massive amount to do in Melide itself, but there a few nice little restaurants and a Miniature Model Village for the kiddies. A short bus ride/ train ride from Laguna and accommodation seemed much cheaper. We ate in the hotel restaurant, which was borderline fine dining, so food was amazing but a little expensive; presecco, a bottle of medium priced wine and two medium priced secondi meals cane to about €170 plus tip. We were lucky enough to get a free upgrade, staying in a wonderful apartment with Hammam and kitchenette; always nice to get an upgrade, so many thanks again 😁

You must take a swim in the lake.
You must take a swim in the lake. Near the parking garage is a swimming platform. The lake is perfect. Don't test the water first, Don't dip a toe. Take a few steps back, run, jump high, Dive in a resurface a human reborn. Months latter I still think about that dive in the water in the most beautiful lake I have ever seen.
The town is expensive. But If your traveling through. Stop my kid love car spotting from the cafes.

Correct the hotel location in booking to not show that it is 150 from the center while searching in Lugano area. The hotel location is at the top of the mountain, it tooks more the 25 minutes to reach the hotel up or to go down to the city… nothin around the hotel, no centro, no restaurant… the hotel is in the middle of nowhere

The hotel is on the other hand very nice and clean and it is a good place to have a good dinner and a sleep over if you are on the road.

We were there mid summer and the temps were low to mid 30’s...
We were there mid summer and the temps were low to mid 30’s deg C. We were glad to be in Lugano (as opposed to a small village) as the more modern hotels have aircon. Our experience in Morcote was no aircon in a quaint hotel in a beautiful and idealistic location. But it was very uncomfortable and no respite from the heat. From Lugano it’s easy to take boat trips or bus to the various villages around the lake as well as a number of walks to villages and mountains. Eg Brusino Arsizio: Best for mountain panoramas. Catch the cable car up to Serpiano on Monte San Giorgio. Also funiculars up to Monte San Salvatore, the “Olive Walk “ to the village of Gandria. Four days at an easy pace with relaxing afternoons by the pool was perfect for us.

It is a pearl of the Ticino area. The park Scherrer in Morcote is great, the village is just lovely and the people are nice. Stroll around, and enjoy the views and the village. Later you can dine in Pizzeria della Torre.

Cademario is half hour from Lugano and its lake.
Cademario is half hour from Lugano and its lake. The last part of drive to the hotel may be intense, in particular if driving a manual transmission car, due to the windings and tight turns of a road going 500 meters up in about 15 minutes. Lugano and nearby villages are worth visiting - for example, Gandria, a small village on the lakeside, 15 minutes from Lugano, almost invisible from the main road due to its location on an abrupt lakeshore. Also, Locarno, Ascona, and Valle Verzasca are worth spending an hour driving north. In particular, Ascona is a great place for dinner, where you can choose from a dozen restaurants along a wide pedestrian street on the side of the lake. Valle Verzasca offers parking areas almost each kilometer due to its beautiful views - in particular Ponte dei Salti (pedestrian medieval bridge) and Cascata La Froda (narrow but spectacular waterfall). Small stores along the road offer 10 Swiss Francs parking passes for most of the parking spots (marked "green parking") all the way to the end of the road in Sonogno.
