We had a lovely stay for 3 nights with our family with 2 kids. -friendly and very helpful staff -the room was clean and had all we needed - we could sleep well, enough space, good fscilities and a balcony with a garden + pool view - 2 outside pools incl. a heated one - we didn't use it much due to the weather/ May, however, in the summer it must be nice - pleasant breakfast (a bit smaller choice, however, tasty -we had a dinner once - it was very good -a bus stop right next to the hotel (you get a free card for transport) - good option besides a car

It is exquisite. Calm and restorative. The cuisine deserves Michelin stars. The staff is extraordinarily helpful even with limited common languages. Our communications were heartfelt. A gem in a tiny old former farming village. Beautiful hiking in the area. Minimal distractions but easy access to necessities within 30 minutes by postal bus free through Ticino pass offered by all hotels during stay. Has a swimming pool on the property and a swimming lake nearby.

We were upgraded to a superior room with a great balcony overlooking the lake. Excellent breakfast in a room again overlooking the lake. Nice touch that booking a participating hotel includes the local transit pass (Ticino) which gives free travel on the local train travel and discounts for things like the funicular to the San Salvatore summit.

Correct the hotel location in booking to not show that it is 150 from the center while searching in Lugano area. The hotel location is at the top of the mountain, it tooks more the 25 minutes to reach the hotel up or to go down to the city… nothin around the hotel, no centro, no restaurant… the hotel is in the middle of nowhere

We had a lovely stay at Castelrotto.

We had a lovely stay at Castelrotto. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, and ensured we had a great time. We also had dinner at the restaurant twice, and were pleasantly surprised with how delicious everything was. The property is nestled up in the hills above Lake Lugano and is surrounded by vineyards. There's even the possibility to tour the property and visit artwork installations that have been placed in specific spots. It was a tranquil, relaxing, and wonderful stay. They are also a dog friendly property.

Cademario is half hour from Lugano and its lake.

Cademario is half hour from Lugano and its lake. The last part of drive to the hotel may be intense, in particular if driving a manual transmission car, due to the windings and tight turns of a road going 500 meters up in about 15 minutes. Lugano and nearby villages are worth visiting - for example, Gandria, a small village on the lakeside, 15 minutes from Lugano, almost invisible from the main road due to its location on an abrupt lakeshore. Also, Locarno, Ascona, and Valle Verzasca are worth spending an hour driving north. In particular, Ascona is a great place for dinner, where you can choose from a dozen restaurants along a wide pedestrian street on the side of the lake. Valle Verzasca offers parking areas almost each kilometer due to its beautiful views - in particular Ponte dei Salti (pedestrian medieval bridge) and Cascata La Froda (narrow but spectacular waterfall). Small stores along the road offer 10 Swiss Francs parking passes for most of the parking spots (marked "green parking") all the way to the end of the road in Sonogno.

Cadê Mário is the ideal 10/10 spot for anyone planning a hiking weekend or week in the surrounding mountains of Lugano which are extraordinary. If you are planning a business trip with appointments in the Center of town, it is not ideal. The location is on the mountain peak. One must pre order a taxi for pick up and the taxi fair is in the range of 70 SFR each way. The bus is complicated. There was not hot tub. At least I didn’t see one.. to clarify and misunderstanding- it is NOT a spa. There was no masseurs or aestheticians available. the surroundings and nature were extraordinary and spectacular.
