It's a lively city, full of history and sightseeing locations. The international peony garden was very delightful experience as well . You can buy the tickets yourselves everywhere you go, no need for an agent. Didi taxi very useful to travel or metered taxis. The Shaolin Temple and the Longmen Grottoes are a bit far but they are located in beautiful places, worth the travel, I went on my own everywhere no probs, beautiful mountains Songshan, you could do some hiking. Eateries are everywhere, street food, small locals, depends on what you want, there are the western usual fast food too but I do prefer Chinese food because is lighter.

It was unfortunate that we only stayed one night and we had to catch our train to our next destination. We are very grateful that we were upgraded to a Suite with such a huge bedroom and living room. Thank you very much indeed. There was a wide spread of breakfast to spoil everyone.

Historic Longmen Grottoes well worth a stopover. White Horse Temple, first Buddhist temple in China, was interesting but slightly underwhelming, especially with the distance from the city. The grounds were relaxing. Ancient City was vibrant. Wished I could have visited the International Peony Garden in April during peony blossoming time!

We came to Zhengzhou to see the Shaolin temple, and we also ended up seeing the Longmen Grottoes. Both sites are outside of Zhengzhou, so upon reflection, we could have stayed in Luoyan instead, which is much nicer. There is not much to see in Zhengzhou itself.

It was really easy to get to the grottos and the Shaolin temple. I would have liked just one more day - 3, not 2, to see more of the museums and histrical building in the city center. Where I did visit was great!

Sadly, I was not in the city for long enough to see any attractions this time. I did eat at 2 restaurants in the city with my work colleagues and the food was great. The people in Zhengzhou were friendly and helpful and I felt completely safe there. I look forward to going back and staying longer, so I can see local attractions.
