The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Basic amenities but good enough. The views from the property are very nice. The Hotel is very close to Minca town, just 5 min walking (uphill but very doable). The only inconvenience is that you can hear the traffic from the road down the hill. It is quite noisy, even at night. But I always travel with earplugs. ;) the breakfast is very basic but nice. The views from the restaurant are gorgeous! I will come back! PS: I recommend getting a full body massage!!

El Zaino is just an entrance to Tayrona Park.

El Zaino is just an entrance to Tayrona Park. Tayrona Park is simply amazing — the hike in to Boca de San Juan is a highlight in itself, weaving through jungle and along beaches in a way that feels like an adventure the whole way. We camped at Arrecifes in one of their large tents, which was surprisingly spacious — three beds and still plenty of room to move around, plus a private bathroom with warm shower right off the back of the tent. The whole family absolutely loved it. Spending a night inside the park means you get to fully enjoy the beaches at your own pace — Boca de San Juan and Playa Piscina are stunning, and the gentle waves were perfect for the little ones.

Little ecological town in the mountains above Santa Marta with so much things to see! You can visit waterfalls of the mountain river, go to coffee and cacao tour at the top of the hills and find some interesting retreat places. Big recommendation for anyone who likes nature and places with calm and chill vibe. The ways of getting around Minca is mostly hiking or Moto taxi and both are kind of great experience.

Guachaca was a nice tiny village to stay in with proximity to both Buritaca and Costeño beaches and Tayrona park. It's easy to catch the bus to take you along the main road to these other towns and some hikes. You can swim in the Guachaca river and there is a hike up to a waterfall on the river as well, Cascada Saltillo.

It's just a small collection of buildings along a highway with major transport vehicles, and all restaurants are open air along the highway. Rather depressing, and not a good spot to get food/snacks for backpacking into the park. Though we were able to get cash from one of the stores, they charged us an 11% fee. As an adventurous person who likes to avoid crowds in national parks, I thought the Calabazo entrance would've been a great way to see the park & wildlife, but it wasn't really worth it. We exited through the Zaino entrance & preferred the accommodations & hiking paths found there. In low season (Nov 27 & 28th) there weren't all that many people anyway.

For those who like the hustle and bustle of the crowds, we recommend Playa Grande, while for those who prefer a quieter place, Sisiguaka will be the best choice. Both places can be reached on foot along the mountain path, or simply by one of the many motorboats that leave from the port. Santa Marta is easily accessible from Taganga by local bus, and back by Uber. And you can eat delicious food anywhere in the bay.

Santa Marta is lit bit away from my expectation, Unfortunately all city calles, beaches, sea is full trash and lot of homeless people , construction just behind beach totally dust, horrible smell, very laud music almost every restaurant bar stores who wants relax and looking for clean place this is not right place. Santa Marta has very beautiful natural area but people make dirty and ugly and Goberna de Magdelena do not care at all. City is going to be disaster place in the future if they are not reaction.

In general, the online description of the trail is not accurate. You are crossing a mountain range.... steep ups and downs followed by a steep down to the resort. Trails are not to U.S./Canada standards especially when one adds in the fact that horse/burrow traffic is a necessity for supplies. Hope for no precipitation.
