"We were warned that Arcachon is very touristy and although there were many there (mid June), it didn‘t come across that way. Nice beach and promontory with lots of cafes and restaurants. Shopping streets including covered market were also worth visiting. Park above the downtown was beautiful. We took a train to Bordeaux for a day (50 min) which worked out very well. The nearby Pilate dunes are worth visiting. A boat outing to Cap Ferret is also recommended. We liked Le Pitt for good oysters a bit away from the beach and with fair prices."

"We weren't even planning to come to Andernos-les-Bains but our plans changed and we are so glad we did. It makes a great base for exploring the area. It is big enough to have all the shops, restaurants and facilities we could wish for but it is also relaxed and peaceful - bearing in mind that we were there at the end of May. We had a lovely time."

We made it out by only a short time before the road was closed. Besides that, everything was most pleasant and enjoyable. Went to Dune du Pilat…fascinating. I hope the fire left Cap Ferret proper unscathed! So sorry for those who lost their homes further north."

I lvoed the staff who spoke very good English and tried to accommodate every request we made (we did not make many). They were kind and made sure our room was cleaned every day (and it was). Large room with more than enough space for all of our luggage. It was in the center of Biscarrosse, so very close to evderything. The staff helped arrange us for a rental car during out stay. The rooms were as advertised and were even more spacious than their picutres on Bookings.com.

New budget hotel. You really can’t complain — it does exactly what it needs to do. Convenient, clean, comfortable bed, tasty and generous breakfast, very nice staff. We had a large room, although the window could have been bigger. But considering the price, everything was just perfect!

Very clean, comfortable (good A/C during the heat wave!) and friendly, helpful staff. Nice location away from the crowds but just 2 blocks to the beach, plenty of restaurants nearby and a short walk to the town center. Highly recommended!

I attended an event in the hotel, so the location was of convenience to me. The hotel room as such was rather basic, but that was in line with my expectations for the Ibis hotel chain. The breakfast was really nice, also the food served in the hotel was delicious. The staff was nice too. Parking was plentiful and free of charge and the location was easily accessible from the highway.

Don’t get me started. Ok. Loved the view , the bed, the decor, the staff, the breakfast, the lounge. The period wallpaper, fixtures , special touches were perfect. Coffee in room nice. The breakfast was superb.cozy breakfast room too. Also, hubby left his passport in the lounge. Someone came running after him from the hotel to return it. It was a dream of mine to come to stay after I had spied the room a couple of years ago on a walk on the quai. The dream came true. Thank you .

A wonderful city for a family vacation, with a warm, calm sea in the bay and the rough ocean just a 30-minute ferry ride away. Beautiful pine trees, well-developed infrastructure, plenty of cafes and shops, and inexpensive oysters. It’s convenient to rent bikes and explore the surrounding area.

This was a total disaster!

This was a total disaster! No keys available where they informed to be. Finally in: no cleaning at all, no bed ware, rubbish everywhere. Horrible staff, not even came to see us. Spoke only French which I hardly understood. We booked another hotel for that night. We made a reclamation to Booking wanting to reemburse of our money.

For people that enjoy outdoor activity you can't beat Lege-...

For people that enjoy outdoor activity you can't beat Lege-Cap Ferret. There are amazing bike paths for miles, incredible, unspoiled beaches with great waves and a fascinating bay with interesting towns and oyster farms. People are extremely nice and very helpful. We rented bikes and were able to go all over! It's a lovely, unspoiled, relaxing spot.

The harbour for oyster lovers. Some restaurants do offer non marine based food. But we found a place called L'Hopa which was very good and another in la hume called Bistro 50 .(short train ride and short walk)

Arès is certainly not the smartest town in Cap Ferret but it...

Arès is certainly not the smartest town in Cap Ferret but it is the largest and has a good selection of restaurants and other services, including a large Leclerc on the outskirts. The more appealing parts of Cap Ferret are no more than 30m away by car and it is connected to the extensive cycle network that covers the whole area. It also seems to be the best place to sample the oysters which are a speciality of the Bassin d'Arcachon.

The host was very responsive & had helpful tip for dinner and kindly made us a reservation. She accommodated our early departure. The pool was refreshing on a hot day. The property is accessed from above by steps, so it is harder to appreciate the beauty of the stone building. The room decor is modern. The terrace has a beautiful stone slab table where breakfast is served.

Le Teich is an excellent base. Birdwatching is the obvious attraction, but the whole area is great for cycling and just chilling out. A bike ride to Gujan-Mestras oyster farms is a highlight. It's 15 minutes to Arcachon by train, and there's a network of buses too.

Arcachon is great place to visit if you look for nature and...

Arcachon is great place to visit if you look for nature and rest. It’s suitable to families with small kids as well as couples and older generations. Easy to get to from Bordeaux. Great beaches, beautiful scenery and superb places to eat and shop. We went to near beautiful villages by boat, swam in Atlantic Ocean, cycled to famous Dunes and had amazing food.
