The staff were friendly and were always available to assist. The food was excellent all around, but the dinner in the main restaurant was exceptional with amazing views (breakfast was also served in the same room). Location was convenient to local attractions.

The room was clean. The food was really good, all home made and inexpensive. The room was worth what we paid, comfortable, clean and a great location for walks. The breakfast was really lovely too. We will definitely be back.

We loved visiting the Abbey and found our time there to be...
We loved visiting the Abbey and found our time there to be very peaceful. Although we didn’t have dinner at the hotel, we would like to when we stay again. There were many enticing Italian dishes that we would certainly enjoy on our next visit. Parking onsite made everything easy and accessible.

Nice little town.
Nice little town. Not a lot of facilities but a good base for exploring the area. The White Hart Hotel appears to be the biggest hotel in the town. There are several B&B's. At the time of our stay there was a complete road closure on the A382 between Bovey Tracey and Moretonhampstead which made getting there a longer journey. But this was only temporary and we only had this information from friends who live nearby. So worth checking if you are traveling there in the next few weeks.

I was on a motorbike adventure tour to explore Cornwall's East and West coasts, Dartmore and Exmore. The location was a central part of my plan. I could not be happier as Heathergate Cottage provided me the comfort of home and an ideal location to carry out my plan.

I stayed at Hexworthy and had no car so can't really comment...
I stayed at Hexworthy and had no car so can't really comment on surrounding attractions, but there were a variety of beautiful walks by brooks and rivers and over the moors. The walk around Venford Reservoir was lovely too.

Ashburton is well placed for reaching both Dartmoor and the...
Ashburton is well placed for reaching both Dartmoor and the South Devon coastline, as well as days out further afield. The town is charming, still with plenty of independent shops. There are lots of places to eat in the area.

If you love being in the countryside with no neighbours...
If you love being in the countryside with no neighbours except the odd animal then it's perfect. Your on dartmoor national Park in minutes Avon dam widecombe on the moor buckfast Abbey and there's a nice little cafe in south brent that sells pot off tea with China cup and saucers, beer, breakfast , lunch etc.

I really enjoyed visiting the Dartmoor Prison visitors centre. An unexpected treat.
I was lucky with the weather, mainly blue skies and fluffy clouds. Fog and rain came and went quickly. It's Dartmoor after all. It's very central for visiting the moors and the seaside. I liked it. There's a visitors centre there for advice re where to go. Local pride is evident.

Nice to be able to just be, to recharge yourself, reconnect, a bit of us quality time In a very pretty and clean site. Instructions very clear to open barriers and key lock.
Will definitely stay again. Excellent meal at Kings Arms pub.

General ambience is lovely and comfortable with lots of interesting furnishings. Staff are excellent. Food style and menu not to our liking. Bathroom without shower and difficult to use jacuzzi bath, which could be regarded as hazardous for the non-nimble. The surrounding countryside is, of course, wonderful.
