Gorgeous grounds and superb views from our room. Room had every comfort, great bed, linens, and seating. Dinner was exceptional with good wine list and breakfast was delicious. Cocktails in bar was a nice touch. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. We walked around grounds after breakfast and greatly appreciated the nature trail. Would gladly stay here again.

This is an attractive and very friendly market town with lots of pubs, cafes and interesting shops. It has some architectural gems such as St.Michaels church and the 'pepper-pot' Market Hall. Parking is a bit tight, so we had to search for space on two occasions.

Chagford is a brilliant town to stay in as it has four Pubs, plus several cafes that all serve fabulous food, a Spar shop, a delicatessen, plus several other shops to browse around in, including the most amazing ironmongers, where one can get virtually anything one would ever want. You have roadside parking plus two large car parks in the town. Chagford is a great location for exploring Dartmoor.

The staff were very helpful and lovely to us, we would have stayed longer but the weather was appalling 09/12/25 so could not walk in the garden the room was good, bed comfortable. Love the quietness at this time of year, which is what we wanted. Was a bit disappointed with the afternoon tea. It’s better in the summer menu with its verity of food choices. So will come back letter in the new year. We have recommended it to others.

Chagford is a gorgeous friendly little place with plenty of lovely coffee shops, eateries and shops too. Lovely places to walk too. Our favourite breakfast place was the Birdcage cafe and our favourite pubs for food of an evening were the three crowns and th Ring o Bells.

The roads into the village are small and tight and it isn't the sort of village you will drive past, you have to go out of your way to come here and to be honest it shows. If any of you have ever watched the League of Gentlemen "this is a local shop for local people, there is nothing for you here" there is that sort of vibe throughout the village. It looks stunning, nice historic buildings, town square but the moment you enter the village you feel like an outsider, going into local farm shops and people just stare, talk to you without making eye contact it is all very strange. Ok firstly if you want to eat food DO NOT go to the Chagford Inn, the prices are disgusting for what they actually bring you, £20 for a burger which literally consisted of a burger smaller than a standard Mcdonalds cheese burger, 10-12 fries and leaf salad, my partner had Pate for starter which cost £10 and the entire starter was finished with one tablespoon, cannot comment on other places. It seems very much like the village is run on rules and if your not from the village they will make you feel like that an outsider, was not very welcoming place. Beehive Farm shop is brilliant, all homemade breads, pasties, food it was very nice and would recommend this rather than going to the Spar.
