Hani (dive master) and Pipe (customer service) both speak English and filled three days with quality activities during Togean transit. The diving includes the unmissable whale sharks, can also be snorkled. There's fine coral, smaller wreck shore dives. Comfortable infinity pool chairs during surface intervals. Rooms are basic but an upgrade from most in these parts, oceanside, about 20 minutes from Gorontalo mall and main harbor

So much to see not only in the Manado area but also islands, beaches and villages in the hills. Spent a total of 10 days there and so many more attractions I want to visit. Food options are great though quite a few eateries do not have aircon, so be prepared for that. Transport is easy and affordable. Wide range of accommodation options to suit budget. Would suggest out of main city centre not a bad idea because rates drop but quality is high. People very friendly.

Like most Indonesian cities Makassar is a delapitated, dirty, & jerrybuilt blemish. However, like every place in Indonesia it's got it's charm, an amazing community, history, & culture, delicious cusuine, friendly welcoming locals, wonderful back alleyways, & all up is well worth a visit. We had a great time & loved it!

We stayed for 5 nights to go scuba diving in Lembeh strait. I would recommend Bitung if you don't want to stay in the pricier Lembeh resorts. We dove with Rumah Selam who picked us up and dropped us off at FaveHotel. It worked out really well. If you're not diving, there didn't seem to be much to do in Bitung. If you are doing day dives and night dives, i would go back to the hotel to get some rest and get clean. We didn't and found it pretty exhausting at the end of the day.

I spent little time in Tomohon itself, all my time was spent in the surrounding countryside areas. Tomohon itself was a bit chaotic, but had plenty of character. It was easy enough to find local restaurants serving cheap local dishes.

Hotel Rooms were good size.

Hotel Rooms were good size. You can hardly open the bathroom door when in the bathroom. Service in the dining room for dinner was so lengthy it was not pleasant. The kitchen needs help in understanding how to prepare food and to do it with more speed. Waiting an hour and 20 minutes for fried rice is way way too long.

Manado is a vibrant and tourist oriented city.

Manado is a vibrant and tourist oriented city. The good options are excellent with a wonderful de variety of restaurants with culturally diverse cuisine. The local restaurants along the ocean foreshore are very cheap but the food is amazing and the connection with locals adds to the experience. Great exchange rates on Aussie dollar. When looking at tourist places to see don’t just stay in Manado city go out to places like Tomahon and Tondano the scenery up in those places is exceptional.
