Excellent value - comfortable, quiet and clean. Staff were the standout for us - one guest needed low fibre, gluten free diet - wait staff and chefs were v helpful in providing this. Shout out to Kate and Arturo :). Pool was great, quiet and proximity to local sea swimming spot a bonus. Reception staff also v helpful with taxi bookings/ local traffic info. Breakfasts good and varied - GFree well catered for. Fish for 2 dinners beautifully cooked - rather let down by potatoes and veg. Only negative, otherwise, v highly recommended.

Clifden is a perfect town for tourists wanting to explore beautiful Connemara. Everything you need is within a five minute walk in terms of restaurants, pubs and shops. It's a friendly, buzzing town with live music on every evening and a great atmosphere. All the main attractions in Connemara like The Sky Road, Kylemore Abbey, The National park in Letterfrack and the incredibly beautiful Dog's Bay beach in Roundstone are less than an hour's drive away. A really wonderful town for a short break.

Oranmore was much more interesting than I expected.

Oranmore was much more interesting than I expected. It has a very historic background, and there are many explanatory notices about the town. I was a little disappointed that Oranmore Castle was in private ownership and not available to amble around. It was one of the towns raided by the Black and Tans in the 1920s, and there is a memorial to Joe Howley, a local shot dead in the war of independence. I found the info on the origin of the name Oranmore fascinating. It derives from a spring, which is still to be seen. Fuaran (spring) changed to Uaran. -))
