Room was clean and nicely decorated. Plenty of space to store luggage and clothing. Bed was very comfortable. Don't expect the Ritz Carlton. It is not that, but was quaint, comfortable and clean and in a historic building. Breakfast was very good. Staff were very friendly. Would love to come back for a longer stay.

The room was great, and clean. The shower was brilliant - really nice water pressure. The breakfast was perfect, and they had gluten free bread available which is always appreciated. We arrived a little late, but they went out of their way to make sure that was ok, too. 10/10 for customer service.

Cong is a lovely village, very clean and tidy, traffic on a one way system, main route with lots of articulated lorries passing. But easy to navigate. As a big "The Quiet Man" fan I loved it, with tours and Museum and also Ashford Castle. Had dinner in Pat Cohan's great restaurant /pub with great staff. Loved Bun An Coirin. Quiet, peaceful and close to walks. This was a self catering cottage . We loved making our own meals. There was a lovely little bakery where we bought a selection of breads, all very yummy. We found a couple of nice cafes in Cong, not too far from Clonbur that served delicious coffee and scones. There is an easy walk from Chonbur to Cong.

Initially looking for a place near Galway.

Initially looking for a place near Galway. The website seemed to suggest that the accommodation was within a reasonable distance. It took us another 40 mins to get there after passing through Galway, so somewhat disappointed. Nothing at the accommodation within walking distance apart from stunning views and very warm, friendly hosts. The nearest places for dinner were Moycullen or Oughterad. We went to the latter, a 20+ minute drive through narrow country lanes… well aren’t they all? Lovely meal at the Powers Thatch. Friendly, welcoming people. All in all, missed out on Galway but had a very relaxing evening back at the accommodation watching the sun set. Beautiful.

From the moment you arrive you are greeted like you were a member of the Family. Michelle and Larry are warm, humorous, welcoming, and a pleasure to be around. We had a fantastic stay here. The rooms were spotless, nicely decorated, quiet, and Super Comfortable. There is a beautiful parlor area for guests right off the entry that even has a guitar. The wonderful Irish breakfast prepared by Michelle and Patricia was to die for. Michelle gave us fantastic local recommendations and insider tips we would never have found on our own. As we we're reluctantly leaving she came out to the car with some fruit for my grandson. Michelle truly is one of a kind in the hospitality industry. It is a wonderful place to stay when exploring the Galway area, or just to get away.

There are lovely forest paths behind Cong Abbey that we enjoyed. It was fun to go into the pub/restaurant that was used in the old movie The Quiet Man. A lot of it was filmed in Cong. We really enjoyed John Burke’s Restaurant in nearby Clonbur. It was recommended by our host!

Cong is a beautiful historic village with its own dramatic ruined Abbey and the extraordinarily beautiful woods adjacent to Ashford Castle. There are many lovely walking trails amidst the huge trees - that include some redwoods. Sadly, many trees were downed during the devastating Storm Eowyn in January 2025, so a number of trails, including access to Lough Corrib beach, have been blocked. Also, be aware that this is a popular tourist area and buses can disgorge large groups at any time during the day. All the more reason to stay overnight!
