"Iseo is a beautiful lakeside town replete with good trattorie with easy access to ferries to Monte isola, the largest lake island in Europe. Yet it retains its local charm, at least it did offseason, in the face of tourists. We had a lovely meal at Cancella, with wonderful Agnesa serving us. There was a full-fledged market just behind the hotel in the piazzas."

"A fantastic place full of friendly local people, with beautiful scenery and delightful restaurants and bars. Smaller scale than Garda and Como but every bit as good. The regular boat trips around the lake are of great value. The event I attended was held in the Park a great location that constructed temporary bars and food stalls and hosted a live outside music evening. Fun activities can be found for all age groups, cycling, walking or simply socialising in the many bars/restaurants with extremely friendly locals."

"Monte Isola was fun, and so was our trip to Bienno. We had looked forward to hiking the Via Valeria, an ancient Roman road, but parts of were asphalt with cars. Traffic was heavy. Nevertheless the mountains are dramatic and beautiful. Romanino's artwork in the small church in nearby Pisogne was fantastic! If you're looking for good food in Lovere, try the restaurant called Arte and also Caffè Caprini--delicious!"

"very beautiful and peaceful but difficult to get to unless you hire a car getting taxi from airport is expensive. If you want to hire a car in Sarnico there is no car hire there and have to go to Iseo itself Sarnico does not really seem to have a local taxi service and needed to order a taxi from town of Iseo. Suggest hiring a car from airport if flying in and then dropping back there."

"The villa was fabulous, marvellous views that exceeded expectation. Rooms were spacious. We were very comfortable there. We could walk to an excellent local pizzeria, Bellavista, which did takeaway too. Riva di Solto is a short walk, about 15 minutes down, 20 minutes back (uphill!) and a lovely little village with a regular boat service to all parts of the lake. We were a little hot overnight and air conditioning would have been a welcome addition to the facilities."

"Beautiful small hilltop town above the lake. Services about 5 to 10 miles away but the view is worth it; don't go there if want to be in the middle of the action. Onsite restaurant with high quality food, plus excellent free breakfast with room. Very friendly and helpful staff. Looking at the lake and surrounding mountains is almost a spiritual experience."

We loved the island; so peaceful and beautiful. A different way to experience the Italian Lakes. Paolo, our host, made us so welcome. He is so proud of the island and has many recommendations to make your stay perfect. He also makes a delicious torte for breakfast. We used the local bus to visit the town by the shore, just a short ride away. Here there were choices of restaurants and stunning views of the lake.

That is a small and beautiful hotel. More than we expected. The service was the nicest. The view is beautiful. Very clean. Small and nice pull. Great atmosphere, relaxing. The host- Valentina is wonderfull, give you the best service and homely feeling. She was very welcoming, nice and even ordered a pizza for us from a local pizza place, even the fact they have a dinner in the hotel. We had a room for a famly, but it's perfect for couples too. Very recommended. We loved the place.

We were thrilled to make last minute reservations (we literally arrived 5 minutes later) and discover a very comfortable room and with a very lovely dining room still open (we arrived late in the evening as well) for us to enjoy. We were so satisfied that we stayed another night, albeit in another room, this one with a balcony and a lake view! No better place to watch a rainstorm that evening the likes of which I've never seen before.

From the beautiful pastry table ,to the hot dishes ,to the meat and cheese trays and then the espresso and coffee machine it was all beautifully presented and delicious. The staff was helpful if there was anything else needed. The pool and hot tub with views of the lake were paradise as was the hotel location in one of the most beautiful settings in the world .

The view from our room on the third floor was amazing! It was cozy with a very nice bathroom, and again, the view! Even though it was chilly in the morning, we had to spend time on the balcony. The included breakfast was phenomenal along with perfect cappuccinos. We couldn't have asked for more for our first night in Italy, and would gladly stay here again!

Riva di Solto is a small and picturesque lakeside village — peaceful, authentic, and undeniably charming. But be aware: very little happens here. Even on weekends, the town remains extremely quiet, with only 1–2 restaurants open and hardly any signs of typical tourist activity. It has a lovely lakeside promenade and beautiful views, but beyond that, there’s really not much going on — no nightlife, no shops, no attractions. The atmosphere is slow, relaxed, and, at times, a bit retired in spirit. This is a place for people who truly want to disconnect, avoid crowds, and enjoy a slice of quiet, traditional Italy. If you're looking for energy, entertainment, or variety — this is probably not the right place for you.

At the very north of the lake, there are some nice views...

At the very north of the lake, there are some nice views over the water, with a lake front promenade. However the road runs right beside the promenade, and so restaurants and shops look over the road, which can be busy during the day. There are a dozen or so restaurants, some of which are closed a few days per week so worth planning your meals. The evening light show over the buildings is different and a nice touch. Several good gelaterias. With a hire car, Lovere was a good base for us to get to other parts of the lake and we had a lovely time, but after visiting other towns on the lake, we would probably choose Pisogne or Iseo town itself for a second visit.

You can enjoy long lakeside walks, bicycle around the island, and hike to the summit where the Santuario is located. Peschiera is the most picturesque and appealing town on the island, with its really nice and cosy waterfront promenade, where you can sit in outdoor cafes and enjoy the views and atmosphere.

Sarnico is worth a visit.

Sarnico is worth a visit. We were there on a Saturday night and it came alive. The bars were open until 2am. Lots of bars and places to eat (although we eat at a Wine and Bruschetta bar which I wouldn't recommend). Nice walk around the edge of the lake and across the bridge to Patatico. More walking could be done but we were short of time.

Beautiful small city, well placed in the middle of the east...

Beautiful small city, well placed in the middle of the east coast of lake Iseo with a view on one of the small islands. Facilities for everything you nee and the small post office was entertaining (do not expect express, relax and enjoy Italy). It is a great spot to relax, doing water sports, start hiking, cycling, taking a ride on the ferry or doing a day trip by car to Bergamo, Milan, Verona or even Venice. There are plenty restaurants in the nearby area and the two pizzerias in the city provide a good Italian pizza for a reasonable price

A lovely small town on the beautiful Lake Iseo.

A lovely small town on the beautiful Lake Iseo. This lake is much smaller and less touristy than Como or Garda. If you want lots of activity and many people and tons of activities this lake may be too quiet for you. If you want peace and beauty without the crowds, this is your place. The island of Monte Isola is so lovely, you can take a ferry from Sulzano, to the town of Peschiera Maraglio. Just magic!

Perhaps, a hidden gem.

Perhaps, a hidden gem. When I was planning on visiting lake ISEO, I was looking to avoid most touristy places and prioritizing - Relaxation, Food, Culture and a great view of the Lake. I did some research and found this town which also had an easy access to Monte Isola. Trust me you will be pleasantly surprised by the charm this small town and Monte Isola has if you like the mentioned stuffs above. Cheers.

Nice town, with some good options to eat at a variety of price points. Could do with some better public swimming points as some are shallow, stony and full of lake weed. Garda has public lidos that could show the way. One nice jetty area for jumping/diving.

Castro is a charming, quiet town with absolutely spectacular...

Castro is a charming, quiet town with absolutely spectacular views of the lake. While there aren't many amenities on-site, such as larger stores or a wide selection of restaurants, all necessary infrastructure is readily available in neighboring Lovere. The incredible panoramas and tranquility more than make up for these minor drawbacks.
