We spent one night and it was our first one in the country. The hotel is clean and the staff was very welcoming. There is also complimentary tea and coffee at the entrance. The room was not the biggest we have been to but it was spotless with a very comfortable bed and it was pretty quiet at night. Around the hotel you can also easily walk and there are restaurants and shops nearby. We arrived at the hotel with the car and even though there are not many parking spots next to the hotel, the staff pointed us to other 5 locations and they gave us a card that allowed us to leave the car parked for 22 hours for free! Definitely a place I would recommend if you are visiting the area.

There is some international restaurants and cafe inside mito station. Staff was more than amazing. I highly recommend it.

The breakfasts were delicious and satisfying. The kitchen staff were wonderful and helped us with what we needed since our Japanese language is limited. The front desk staff were all exceptionally wonderful and friendly. The hotel’s location was so close to the train station, shopping, and restaurants.

Staff spoke decent English even though this is by no means a tourist area. Breakfast was buffet style and what is to be expected from a Japanese business hotel buffet. There is also a Family Mart like right across the street. Koga station is less than a 10 minute walk.

After Tokyo and other big cities it was really lovely being in Mito. My intention was to go slow and wander around and recharge a bit from travel for a few days - there was a typhoon passing through that week as well so I knew it would be a bit slower :) I went specifically to see Kairakuen one of Japans famous gardens - it was stunning! Full of history and anicent trees - I didn't go during blossom season and still i loved it. Walking around the nearby lake as well was amazing. There were also some really awesome Vietnamese restaurants there which I tried. I took the rapid express from Ueno to Mito and it was a great train ride - really easy and direct

Very wide, spacious, highly decent, and very clean city.

Very wide, spacious, highly decent, and very clean city. It is a well-planned city with wide roads, wide sidewalks with bicycle lanes, modern buildings, and a lot of parks. It is a great escape from the crowd and noise of Tokyo. You can go everywhere by biking. I wish though that the bike lanes would be rehabilitated because most are still the same old condition from 3 years ago.

Good place for few days relaxing trip, 1hr from Tokyo by JR train, have direct bus from airport, recommend rental a car, driving 30 mins to outlet from train station, many site seeing places with 1 hour.

One of the best experiences I've had during my five years in...

One of the best experiences I've had during my five years in Japan. My wife and I enjoyed every moment here. Very quiet and peaceful like a small town, but there is so many amazing places to go! I highly recommend Hitachi Seaside Park, Hitachi Kamine Park, and Oiwa Shrine. Also, there are a lot of great izakayas. I absolutely loved Hitachi, I will be returning soon!

Koga is a good hub for traveling on your own.

Koga is a good hub for traveling on your own. Koga itself is hard to get around it you don't speak Japanese. We had to rely on locals to help us get a taxi. We enjoyed Koga Kubo Park, Joyful Honda to shop for Japanese gardening tools and Ciao pet snacks. When buying pet food in Japan, be sure to use your translator and bring back only fish based food. We found a Korean restaurant, Jyu close to Koga Central Hotel. Food was good and reasonable. The hotel had a well thought out utility room. There were washer and dryer, vending machines and massage chair to use while waiting for your laundry. Next to that area was a public bath.

Take note of the carpark if driving.

Take note of the carpark if driving. The carpark is a multi storey block behind the hotel. Only available from level 3 onwards. We parked at level 4 and fprtunately there was a lift that brought us to level 3, which is the street level leading to hotel. Hand over the parking slip to hotel upon check in, pay 500Y and they will exchange another slip for you.

It is a city with nature and interesting places to visit. I like the fish market here. The food is inexpensive, good quality and very delicious. Kirakuan Garden is also beautiful and gives a Japanese feel.

I nice city in central Ibaraki. Good restaurants and in summer the lake and park are excellent. The stores around the main station are interesting and will appeal to a wide range of people and there are many good hotels near the station.
