I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Miridiya Lake Resort, conveniently located on the edge of Nuwara Wewa, just a stone's throw from Anuradhapura town. This hidden gem is a haven of tranquility, surrounded by the lush beauty of nature, making it a picturesque escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The resort itself exudes charm and comfort. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the cleanliness and the tasteful decor that blends beautifully with the natural surroundings. The rooms were cozy, well-maintained, and offered all the comforts needed for a restful stay. What truly sets Miridiya Lake Resort apart is its staff. Every staff member I encountered was friendly and went above and beyond to ensure my stay was enjoyable. Their attention to detail and prompt service greatly enhanced my experience. The food at the resort was nothing short of amazing. Offering a variety of delicious, well-prepared dishes at very affordable prices, each meal was a delightful experience. The dining setting, overlooking the serene waters of Nuwara Wewa, added an extra layer of enjoyment to our meals. Overall, my stay at Miridiya Lake Resort was thoroughly enjoyable. Honestly the nicest room we have stayed in during our 25 days in Sri Lanka! The breakfast was great! The dinner as well. Great restaurant with even greater staff. Everybody was so attentive, kind and comforting. The service was excellent. The pool was a delight after a day under the scorching sun.

Stayed here for several nights to explore the ancient architectural sites of the Anuradhapura Kingdom and Wilpattu National Park. Exceptionally confortable, quiet, clean, and relaxing space to recharge after long, adventurous days in the sun. My room was lovely, the breakfasts and coffee were great, and the staff super friendly, relaxed, and accommodating in every way. Looking forward to staying here again.

It was the best accommodation we had in Sri Lanka during our two-week trip. Our room met all the standards: it was clean, with no signs of mold, the water was sufficiently warm, and the Wi-Fi worked well. The terrace is also a great bonus. We also appreciated the helpfulness of the host, David. Accomodation is close to main sights.

best place that I have ever visited near Anuradhapure

This hotel is a good place to come and relax if you've had enough of sightseeing. It is a very quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Our room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was clean too with a proper shower cubicle, so the bathroom floor stays dry. Once I'd mastered the shower mixer tap there was a plentiful supply of hot water. The room had a fridge and kettle with sachets of tea and coffee. Our room was on the first floor with a small balcony with a table and chairs. The air conditioner worked well. A good breakfast was included and evening meals at the restaurant were freshly cooked and tasty. The huge swimming pool was nice and warm at 32c. Pool towels were available on request. There were several sunbeds by the pool. The staff were friendly, courteous and very helpful. We stayed five nights and enjoyed every minute. A big thank you to Upali, his family and staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

Tastefully decorated rooms. Clean and wonderfully helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Big thank you to Nimal, Bandera and the chef for looking after me and for the owner Chana for checking in with me. I highly recommend Basnsyaka’s Tuk Tuk tour of the sacred sites which the hotel can arrange. I would definitely return if ever again in the wonderful city of Anuradhapura.

Happy with the location, the room, the AC, the size of the room, and especially the kindness of our host with the nice teas. He arranged us a tuk-tuk daily trip in the Sacred Ruins, which was very welcome at the time. Very laidback and chill experience, I would come back!

The facilities are clean. We checked in very late near midnight but it was very smooth.

We booked a double room, but we were upgraded to a double room within a suite, so we had access to a kitchen, dining room, TV room, fridge, 20 m from the swimming pool – it was fabulous! Extremely quiet location tucked away down a backstreet. I had an accident and tripped up outside the hotel, (total face plant) and Sulchana the receptionist accompanied me to the local emergency hospital and translated for me whilst I got stitches. The hotel paid the initial bill at the hospital, and it was added to our total bill at the end – this was very helpful and took away an awful lot of stress on the day . Sulchana went way and above to help and support us when our flights were canceled, we used her Personal Mobile to phone Air IndiGo in India and we were on hold for 50 minutes. My clothes were covered in blood so without asking she gave me a clean dress for a couple of days while our laundry was being washed. Everything was quite exceptional and I can’t recommend this hotel enough. Thank you Sulchana- I won’t forget your kindness , the hotel is lucky to have somebody like you.

We had a wonderful stay at Rankendiya Resort. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help. The peaceful surroundings and beautiful atmosphere made our stay truly relaxing. The food was delicious, and the overall service exceeded our expectations. During my trip to Polonnaruwa, my car broke down in Habarana, forcing me to stay overnight. I booked a room at Gabaa Resort, and it turned out to be a fantastic experience despite the unexpected situation. The staff were incredibly kind and went out of their way to help me find a reliable garage and get my car fixed promptly. The room was clean and comfortable, providing much-needed relaxation. The dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious, exceeding my expectations. Though my stay was brief, the exceptional service and hospitality left a lasting impression. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area!

In May 2026, my spouse and I ended up off-season at a hotel named Lavendish Wild Wilpattu. This hotel pleasantly surprised us. It began with them offering refreshing drinks. The staff was very friendly, despite our late arrival and booking. We were amazed by how clean, pleasant, and cozy it was inside. The hotel is near the road, but once inside the courtyard, everything becomes peaceful and well-arranged. The rooms are vintage-styled but very clean and tidy. The views from the windows are stunning, filled with greenery and aromas. The pool was warm, clean, with the pH and cleaning time displayed. We spent a lot of time in the pool, even though we stayed only one day. We loved the breakfast-delicious, varied, and we sat outside, though we could have sat inside. Everything was great, warm, cozy, and the food was tasty, with staff offering anything we asked for. We also had dinner at the hotel and were very pleased with the dishes-tasty drinks, seafood, even fish and chips. We highly recommend staying here if you are nearby. A wonderful getaway-we truly loved it.
