Modern, easy walking to downtown sites. Quiet, comfortable. Breakfast is 10euros pp, is very good. Seasonal outdoor pool closed but that & the lounging area looked really ideal. Restaurants about 15min walk from hotel but most don’t open til 7:30. Settled for a really tasty burger restaurant about a 5 min walk, called Avenida (7pm). Place seems popular & had a waiting line by the time we finished our meal.

Wonderful compound - a historical monastery where the original spirit and details are nicely maintained and incorporated. Most impressive was the Church that was still there and active, incorporated in the domain. One of the most beautiful Churches we saw on our trip in Portugal. We spent three wonderful nights at Moagem Industrial Hotel and absolutely loved it. The hotel is simply beautiful, very comfortable, and makes you feel completely at home. At the same time, the staff treats you like royalty – warm, attentive, and welcoming in every detail. A special thank you to Maya and Paula, who welcomed us so warmly every morning and prepared the best pancakes we have ever had. The welcome from Luis was a true delight – so friendly and genuine. Célia and Marta impressed us with their attention to detail and the way they served us so beautifully at the table. Marta, the pastry chef, amazed us with the best handmade desserts we have ever tasted. And of course, we cannot forget Ruben, the chef, who with so much love and care prepared for us an incredible variety of delicious dishes. Everything was perfect, and we couldn’t have wished for a better stay. Highly recommended! Loulou, Nicky and Family😍

This is our 2nd stay here at Casas de Juromenha on our way back home to Nazaré. The casas are clean and we'll cared for. The couch and bed are comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and nicely kept. Being on a lake is a serene setting. The castle above the property is being renovated and has great views. The best part is the breakfast with warm fresh baked bread, croissants, jams, fresh squeezed OJ, yogurts, cheese and ham and more delivered to you door in the morning. Perfection!!

It took longer to retrieve our rental car from Lisbon than we expected, and we stopped in Evora on our way to Monsaraz. We arrived late and left in the morning, leaving little time to explore. A full day is probably enough, which we intended to have but misjudged the time navigating the transportation. Driving through town was an adventure with the very narrow and steep streets. The restaurant was very traditional, and felt authentic. We would recommend a stop in this charming old town.

History, history, history, the perfect place for a walking tour with so much variety, and very good food plus friendly helpful service. The only drawback was the bus station, where a begger seems to hang out asking everyone for money, and the absence of an obvious persons selling bus tickets. You have to know to go to the bar to buy a ticket.

It's a very small place; you really only have the main square with the Igreja Matriz de Santo António, the Parque da Cidade, and that's about it (in our opinion). We used it as a launching pad to visit Monsaraz nearby and it was great in that way. Everything is walking-distance though a bit cold at night (expectable!). We had a bit of trouble with dinner as we were trying to find a place at 9 PM (everything closes earlier here, beware!) so, as a tip, head to Restaurante & Bar Don Luís where the kitchen closes at 10:30 PM. For breakfast we went to Canto Alentejano right by the main square. They don't have much but their tosta de presunto was HUGE and very tasty!

Alandroal had many villages close by each other. Driving was really easy, no stress with driving or parking. Villages had food, sites and ways to enjoy the day. Each took just the right amount of time to explore. And, they don't take an usual time to get from one to the next. I am a vegetarian and my experience in the long past is that I would find nothing to eat.... Portugal has come a long way offering vegetarian and vegan options.

Monsaraz, more specifically the castle, is certainly a must for anyone visiting Alentejo. The view is absolutely breathtaking, overseeing the Alqueva dam and the beautiful Alentejo. It's also quite rich in history, weaved into its quaint rocky streets and schist houses. Like its "big cousin" Marvão, the sunsets are particularly stunning. I know they aren't related, but they do feel similar ok? However, the citadel is not ideal for people with lower mobility or not ready to spend too much in the many tourist-focused restaurants. A couple hours should be enough for a tour, since it's not very big. The region itself do deserve some more time. Feel free to take a dip in Alqueva, do a hike in the countryside dotted by millennia old megalithic monuments or simply star gaze.
