Pico Vineyard exceeded every expectation! From the moment we arrived, the entire staff made us feel genuinely welcome with their warmth and professionalism. Every interaction was pleasant and thoughtful. Our room was absolutely perfect: spacious, beautifully appointed, and spotlessly clean. It struck the ideal balance between comfort and elegance, with lovely touches that made our stay feel special. The facilities throughout the hotel were equally impressive—modern, well-maintained, and immaculately clean.

The apartment was very clean and comfortable. There was everything I needed for my stay. Kitchen was well equipped with coffee machine, microwave, stovetop, and many more. Jose is a very kind and responsive host. Jose responded back to every little concern and questions that we had in a quick manner. Jose provided us with a welcome basket which had cake, bread, local jam, honey and wine which we thought was a wonderful gesture. Jose was kind enough to let us check in early and check out late as our flights were at odd times which we appreciate a lot. The place was very clean and close to supermarket. There were wonderful views of Pico Mountain and ocean from the balcony upstairs. Place had everything that we needed to cook our own meals including Salt, Sugar, Tea bags, Coffee and Oil. The place was quiet and peaceful. It is a bit far from city center so you need a car to get around. Accommodation even has English TV channels which are a bonus when you cannot go out because of heavy rains which happened to us on the day we were leaving Pico. Jose left us some brochures with local restaurant recommendations in the kitchen as well as brochures for companies that provide whale watching tours which was a nice gesture. Jose has thought of everything to make the place feel like a second home. Overall we had a wonderful time at Jose's place.

I absolutely loved how they captured the spirit of Pico Island how it used to be before it became modernized and crowded with visitors. I remember going to Pico as a child and what I really loved about it was the silence and the ability to birds, cows and chickens in the distance. This place is absolute paradise in recapturing that atmosphere. I can’t think of a better place to go Rest in Pico. At the same time, the place has all the modern amenities than one needs to be comfortable. It’s the perfect balance between old quaint, traditional premodern Pico and the most advanced comforts that we have all become accustomed to including high speed Internet.

The view , the space in the house, the swimming pool, silence, everything that we need was at house - towels, hair dryer, soap , washing liquid, even coffee.. we didn't expect that the house is so huge, on the second floor 2 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms plus sofa downstairs, huge space in the kitchen, living room with 2 tables , toilet downstairs, outside sun beds.. blankets if needed, an extra bed with a mattress if needed, a clothes dryer, a dishwasher, but still the most what we loved was the view on the ocean 🐳 wish to be back there , beautiful 😍

Sao was such a wonderful hostess!! So kind and helpful. The breakfast served here was fantastic, the room perfect for our needs and the balcony so beautiful!! Lajes was an excellent location for us, we loved the pastry shop and restaurant just up the street. Quiet but neighborly, we wouldn’t stay anywhere else on the island! Highly recommend renting a car and taking advantage of the ocean swimming holes! Sao Roque had the best one. And the bar Cella Bar near the capital has a gorgeous view!

The marked walk I did from Prainha gave a great deal of variety whilst not at all busy. Casa dos Vulcões at Lajido was well worth doing for the interactive experience but you do need to book in advance. Restaurants in the centre of town don't always have a free table but I had to problem with the ones to the south of the town. I eat at Taberna Do Canal and A Parisiana which were both good.

It’s a good compromise for exploring the place - there is a rental car in town, it’s close to a junction so you can explore half of the island at at time. During my stay, it was also considerably more sunny then the other locations! It’s a small town, but not too quiet and has a few choices of restaurants and a big supermarket. the little harbour is great: the whaling museum was a nice distraction during a rainy day and when the weather got better, it was time for a swim!

In this town, you have a great chance of spotting whales, enjoying a beautiful 12 km hike around the town and along the coastline toward São João, and exploring a mystery forest. You can also visit two interesting local museums to learn more about the island’s history and culture. There are several excellent restaurants nearby that are well worth a visit. The town also offers breathtaking views of Pico Volcano, making it a perfect destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. There are two beautiful places for swimming.

Quiet place.

Quiet place. Only one restaurant open starting 7pm, 2 small shops and 1 bar. No no tourist attractions. Perfect if you looking place for silence and rest and you are ready to drive to see something interesting or to go to restaurant. Recommended is to have car -- buses are not real option.

Cais do Mourato is a small area outside of Madalena, There are many restaurants nearby. In Cais do Maurato there is a restaurant calls The Stones that is only open during tourist season. Unfortunately my trip was not at that time. But just down the street is the Cella Bar which was nice. And in Madalena, I enjoyed O Cinco, Petisca, Atmosfera, Paprika, Taberna do Canal and the Atlantic Tea House. For wineries, there is one a minute or two away Azores Wine Company. And the others are all within easy driving.

I went there to scuba dive and Madelena is a perfect location between two excellent Dive Shops: CWAzores and Twin Peaks. I recommend O Cinco for food. Madalena is a perfect location to stage a vacation to have access to all the other towns, museums and activities.

São Roque is very spread out, so a car is needed if you stay outside the heart of the village. Most restaurants were closed, so dining out was tricky (end of March). It is worth staying in a self catering place when going off season. The minimarket by the fire-station is well stocked. Safe swimming spot at the Naval Club. Close to hiking trails.

A nice little town with several good restaurants.

A nice little town with several good restaurants. We visited in September and some restaurants were closed so we needed to book some of the more popular ones. Whaling museum interesting to understand previous culture and history of the Azores. Supermarket and a few small shops. We used this as our base. The roads on the whole were good between Lajes and other places of interest. There is a little windmill which is very picturesque especially at night when it is lit up. Lovely sunsets.

Here you can experience the wilder remoter part of Pico Island. I walked along the marked trails about 10km to the Miradouro de Alto de Cedros, finding some woodland trails on the steep hillside. If I'd had another day I'd have taken the bus to Piedade and walked back along the coast. Praia itself was quiet, with walks to the beach, a handy local shop and passing buses.
