United StatesThe large spacious rooms were great! The baths were in a separate room. Very nice! Overall, this place is one of top 5 "gems" I've found in Taiwan for lodging. (I've stayed at over 70 different lodging places in Taiwan.) It has a beautiful unique surrounding and peaceful atmosphere. The "honeymoon" suites are the way to go!

Huoyanshan is an incredible hike - views of Taichung and...
Huoyanshan is an incredible hike - views of Taichung and Miaoli, its truly a must see. Sanyi Wood Sculpture Museum is quite interesting, good for souvenirs. The craftsmanship on display at the museum is beautiful, however, one floor had most of the exhibit under wraps which was disappointing. The railbike to Long-Teng Bridge was fun albeit a bit crowded, I still think it's worth going. Sanyi is also not too far from Dahu if you want to go strawberry picking in the winter.

Some lovely parks to visit.
Some lovely parks to visit. The Gongweixu tunnel and its surrounding Maolishan huge park is well worth a days visit. Likewise the walking or biking trail along the river is great. There is a lot of other view points and treks to be had around the area. Great place to stay for a few days.

A quiet town, there isn't much to do here other than the sleepy seaside. But we love the friendly, slow vibe and always have great food and drinks at "Super Duper" that we can take to the beach and watch the sunset. SPOT is also a wonderful place to meet friends and take surfing or kite surfing lessons! Very chill, not fancy, but sometimes that's just what you want!

Good value for enjoying the hot spring and beautiful nature. Breakfast is of good quality served in a great view area. Spa area should open early in the morning so that guests can enjoy before breakfast. TV screen can be adjusted to turn around for viewing convenient.

My wife and I like to walk and this is a great place for...
My wife and I like to walk and this is a great place for that with the Twin Peaks trail nearby (and nice coffee shop) and other trails. We also loved the fact that there is a bustling daily local market where we could buy breakfast and fresh produce and bakery items to prepare at the homestay in the evening.
The local people are absolutely lovely, but at the risk of perhaps stating the obvious, if you're not a native Chinese speaker take a phrase book as no-one speaks English.
It's not necessary to have a car as there is a reasonably priced local taxi service operating from the station and a good train service to go to nearby locations for visits and walks. Although the homestay was only 2km from the town centre, and we like walking, the 130 NTD spent on a one way journey up the hill back to the homestay was in our eyes money well spent.
Tongluo is a lovely place and very relaxing. We like it very much.

The main attraction for my family is the Rail Bike, there are 3 route to venture. Do take note of different start point location for these ride. There is a Flying Cow farm which we missed due to lack of time. We wanted to take a tour to Yulon car manufacturing factory but is closed for that day.
