"Stowe is adorable. The reputation it has as a fall foliage destination is well deserved. The little downtown is adorable and very walkable, the traffic wasn't great but we were able to find parking relatively easily. If visiting from out of town, you're going to want a rental car since many of the attractions are spaced miles apart. There are a ton of great food-related things to try near by. We really enjoyed the sugar houses (we saw Bragg Farm and Goodrich's Maple Farm and recommend them both - about 40ish minutes out of town), Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Cabot cheese shop, and Ben and Jerry's factory. We stopped at but didn't stay at the Trapp Family Lodge, which was well worth seeing. We did try the Trapp Kaffeehaus (which also serves their beer) which was great. If you like hard cider we also recommend Stowe Cider."

"Waitsfield is exactly how I pictured a small New England town should look. It has adorable shops, a farmer's market, and some good restaurant options. We had delicious steak at the Hyde Away Inn, and beer at Lawson's Finest Liquids. Our stay at the Mad River Lodge was comfortable, in a lovely setting just outside of town. We were in the area for the Mad River Marathon, which is challenging, but scenic."

The folks running this Inn are absolutely amazing. We visited in winter and perhaps were the trouble-makers - always getting into a fix. We got stuck in a parking lot because we arrived shortly after a snowstorm. Guess what? The Innkeepers helped us get unstuck! When our car would not start they helped us jump-start it. We stayed only for a few days but we needed some help every day and they were always there for us - a text away! Best service I have ever received and it felt much more personal than when you stayed at a hotel. My travel companion absolutely loved the number of blankets and pillows offered. Since we are used to staying at hotels where only a sheet is provided we were pleasantly surprised. Here, a proper blanket + a fluffy throw greeted us in the room - very cozy! Outside of the room, there are a few common/shared spaces. One such space is the dining area and a kitchenette. The kitchenette space had a shared fridge, electric kettle, and a microwave. This allowed us to bring some groceries so that we could prepare our lunches and hot tea for the ski slopes. When we stayed the kitchenette was also stocked with paper cups and paper plates, which we appreciated. We had an amazing time and cannot say enough great words about this place and the folks who run it!

I like everything: the room was very good, exactly as on photo: new, cozy, comfortable, spacious and clean, with microwave and coffeemaker. Breakfast very good for this price rate: fresh waffles, 2 types of eggs, bacon, sausages, potato, oats, fruits etc, whole hotel was very clean and nice. Staff was friendly and caring. 24h teas and coffee (even decaf:)

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was clean, well-furnished, and thoughtfully designed for comfort. The bed was especially cozy, and I appreciated the quiet environment that allowed for a restful night’s sleep. Superb queen room with private balcony and mountain views. Many activities on offer but unfortunately we didn't have time to enjoy these. Quite pricey but really lovely accomodation. Very helpful and convenient shuttle around the resort. Great beer and food in the brewery. Also breakfast in the coffee house.

This is what you need to know.

This is what you need to know. I stayed there for 4 nights. 90%+ of the people staying there were middle aged men (like myself) staying by themselves. Most of them were there to do some kind of government work at the State House. It is a great deal for guys who don't care about anything but having a bed, toilet, a lukewarm shower, and literally the same (meh) breakfast every single morning. The staff was exceptionally nice, and from some listening, I discerned that a lot of these guys stay there regularly. Do not bring your spouse here for a getaway. Period.

How they lie and then charge you extra.

How they lie and then charge you extra. After giving an honest review they charge me stating I smoked in the room. On camera”if they even worked” you can see I was outside. Lied about my cigarette waste was not in their trash. They do not provide trash outside. Slept horrible waking up at 2 am with the room at 85 degrees. And lights kept flickering. At least if your going to scam me- use the money wisely to fix up your place. Not even mentioned my in laws room was horrible and worse than mine.

Having lived in and visited Stowe many times, what I can say is that the skiing is usually quite good, sometimes pretty cold, but if you are looking for a challenge it is pretty great. An east coast icon for a reason. The town has some pretty cool spots to eat and hang out(Doc Ponds is great). The parts I don't like are that it can be expensive to stay, even at some mediocre accommodations, so be judicious with the places you choose. Also the feel/vibe can be pretentious like an east coast Aspen which can be off-putting. Parking can be a challenge in the village and the mountain.

We have visited the area many times, and this time was for a specific overnight event. Regarding Montpelier proper, there is little to do or see: the capitol is worth a visit, but requires little time. Despite what we read in a recent chamber of commerce publication, this is not a place for gastronomy: there is a good, but hardly noteworthy, Italian restaurant, and some small familiar ethnic places that we have never tried. The remaining choices are OK, serviceable. One recommendation would be the Capital Gound, for breakfast or lunch. Good coffee. The city is well placed for touring central VT.

Basic, somewhat Spartan accommodations in an older building.. Quiet, with few other guests. Cordial staff. Everything worked OK, but the stairs to my room were steep and narrow. Very nice front porch for sitting and conversation, on site parking, easy walk into center of Montpelier. Restaurant was closed during my visit.
