Indiana

Indiana is best known for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and its deep racing heritage, but it surprises with Midwest charm and varied landscapes. Families and solo travelers will find friendly towns, big museums, and outdoor adventures, from lakes and dunes to rolling farmland and state parks.

Top highlights are the Indy 500 in Indianapolis and sandy shores of Indiana Dunes National Park. Don’t miss the State Museum or hiking along Lake Michigan. Stay in Indianapolis for museums, Bloomington for culture, and Brown County trails and Michigan City for beaches galore.

Love the city! So much to do. Easy to navigate around.
Indianapolis

Love the city! So much to do. Easy to navigate around. The Greenwood mall south of the city is close and great shopping. The Castleton mall north of city is also great to shop at too. The Zoo is also amazing! Harry and Izzy’s is a must to eat at! They have the best lunch you can get for the price! The Parlay- 2 Prime Rib Sliders or 2 chicken sliders or mix and match( the prime rib ones are the best melt in your mouth), fries, salad or soup and 2 pieces of their amazing best in town Shrimo cocktail. And also got to try their seasonal Crème Brûlée!!! A MUST! They are located in downtown Indy on the corner near the parking garage on Georgia st. Absolutely my fav restaurant in town. The Homewood Suites 100% best hotel downtown to stay at. The Breakfast is buffet style and totally worth it. The best hotel breakfast around! The second best hotel is the Omni!!! Great hotel too.

Fishers

Clean and bright with functional kitchenette. More than we expected for a budget level hotel. An affordable stay for needing just an overnight bed for a two day trip. Only thing that would make it better would be to have a couch in the room for more comfortable couple seating to watch TV.

Noblesville

The house is centrally located and very convenient to walk to the down town area. The house was clean but could use a deep cleaning on the floorboard and floors. They were dusty. Bathroom could use a professional level paint job along with replacing the rusty shower curtain rod. (Quite old and rotting) The house offered everything you would need to stay a few nights. Would love to see them put a tv in the main bedroom.

Plainfield

The shuttle wasn't available, and low unprofessional staffing was very dissapointing. Also, the Cafe was closed due to low staff. The hotel is clean, comfortable, which is a plus, but I won't be staying there again, because of the hassle without a shuttle, and no food.

We stayed at Al & Sally's Motel.
Michigan City

We stayed at Al & Sally's Motel. We love Indiana State Park Beach for the amenities, Shady Creek Winery for the Beach Glass Wine, Carlson's Root Beer & Hot Dog Stand for the cheeseburgers & Chicago dogs, Gelsosomo's deep dish pizza, Indiana Dunes Visitor Center for their maps & gift shop, the variety of trails in both the state and national parks, the blue Michigan Lake, and we discovered a new restaurant this visit, the Bistro on the Greens - we were the only ones there on a Wednesday night and sat on the patio, the service was great and the blackened catfish, shrimp & cheesy grits were the best I have ever had. I will be dreaming of that dish! We love the area and are from Dayton, Ohio.

Nashville

Back in the day (the 1990s), we used to go to Nashville all the time. This time and the last one (last year), we really didn't enjoy it. We went on a Tuesday early afternoon and many businesses were closed. We saw none of the potters and artists we used to see in the past. The stores that were open were boring and overpriced. There was one book store (A New Leaf) we liked, but we wouldn't go to Nashville just for it. All restaurants are closed for dinner unless it's the weekend. Bird's Nest Cafe, which seems to be the most highly rated restaurant there was meh -- not bad, not great.

Not impressed with ftw.
Fort Wayne

Not impressed with ftw. For indiana's 2nd largest city you would never know. Horrible bus service, Horrible town to get around or into. 1 flight in the morning and 1 in the evening so miss any of those and you're screwed. No train service to any other cities like indy or south bend. If you do want to take a train its stop is 30 miles from town. If you dont have a car don't visit. There are some decent restaurants but stay away from downtown because its impossible to get around.
