"Watkins Gen is a small town but has everything in walking distance from food, drinks, shopping and State Park and is a great place to stay after touring the wineries of Seneca Lake. I always stop in Columbia Sportswear Company, a neat store with tons of clothing selections. Two recommendations for places to eat Jerlando's and Thai Elephants."

Where do I begin? Wendy and Russ (and Schnitzel) provided a crafted balance of guest focused first class service, being welcoming, flexible/accommodating (allowing us to check in a little early), gracious, generous and always going above and beyond to ensure we spent a truly enjoyable week at their property. They provided a wealth of knowledge of the area and bent over backwards to both anticipate and address our needs. Our suite was very comfortable, well-appointed and tastefully decorated with a nice view of Seneca Lake and the surrounding area. The common areas were all well-appointed and very inviting, offering a large dining/gathering area, complimented by other sitting rooms for quieter interaction, even though the property was fully booked over the weekend. The outside deck was large with furniture carefully arranged to create cozy nooks for enjoying a beverage and taking in the breathtaking view, particularly at sunset. Breakfasts were exceptional, utilizing local fresh ingredients and local artisans to create to present a diverse, well rounded and ever-changing daily menu, from ham & cheese quiche, chicken & waffles to incredible sweet breads and other wonderful treats such (my first time experiencing) a shoofly pie.

Phenomenal customer service. Made good immediately--and in an understanding, cooperative and professional manner-- a technological error while booking online through a travel site (booked 6 King rooms accidentally, innocent mistake, not the inn's fault). In the end, I was charged appropriately, the account was reconciled; and, I enjoyed my stay. Great value. The property unfortunately does not offer elevators and the accommodations are retro in style. Notawirthy, it was clean, safe, quiet, affordable and offered lots of pluses like a stove, refrigerator, etc. It was a pleasure doing business there. Close proximity to nice bagel shop/bakery frequented by the locals. Plus it was right near local roads and highways--easy to find.

Seneca Lake is beautiful.

Seneca Lake is beautiful. We went on a 2 hour luncheon boat ride on the Seneca Legacy with Captain Bill and his crew and food was excellent and the crew great. I would recommend it. I would also recommend the Watkins Glen State Park Gorge trail; what a nice hike - I believe it is listed as a Moderate hike but worth it. We were there over the 3rd weekend in July and we found there was ample parking for everyone. Plenty of excellent restaurants to choose from and the town is very walk-able. It rained on Saturday morning, so we drove over to the Corning Glass Museum in Corning, NY. It was about a 40 minute drive from Watkins Glen, but definitely worth the drive.

Would have liked to explore more.

Would have liked to explore more. I was in town for a wedding, would have liked to take in some wine tours and experience more restaurants. It rained both days I was there. Would like to enjoy the lake and scenery with warm sunshine. I'm sure it would be lovely.

We went mainly to enjoy the wines. First 2 on the west side of lake seneca then next day 2 on the east side Last day went to lake keuka. Absolutely beautiful scenery. Besides wineries there are many state forest parks and scenic towns around the lakes. My new Happy Place!

Hector is home to a,few of our favorite wineries so staying in Hector was great for us.If there was a,drawback it's lack of places to eat.We did, find Scale house brewery which had good pizzas but a very limited menu.We also found Toni's diner.A little almost hidden place full of locals, which served up a good breakfast. If you're looking for more you'll have to go to either Watkins Glen or Geneva.

One of our favorite parts of the trip was sitting outside in the evenings with a glass of wine, listening to the birds, crickets, and sounds of nature after a day of exploring. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, and having two bathrooms with showers worked out perfectly for our group of six ladies getting ready for wine tours each morning! The home was close to many great wineries! Watkins Glen is just a few minutes drive, and Geneva was not that far! Spent time on the West & East sides of Seneca. We only did a weekend trip, but we really should have extended our trip so we can visit more wineries!

We love the Burdett area as two of our favorite wineries are close - JR Dill and Hazlitt. The local Walmart was very close as was Watkins Glen. There are several nice stores and restaurants in Watkins Glen. Jerlando's Ristorante & Pizza Company has delicious food.

Watkins Glen and the Finger Lakes region is a can't miss. Plenty for the family or seniors like us to do. Easy to navigate and get to Wineries and breweries. The lakes, State Parks, hiking trails, and waterfalls are great. The scenery is beautiful. We will visit again.

Good location.

Good location. Heating/cooling was an issue in our room with thermostats on the wall that weren't making a difference. The morning we were leaving we found the remotes that regulated the system. That should be explained on check-in. Also was taking to our room that was "ready" and walked in to find the room attendant half way through the process of redoing the room. The price is HIGH for what you are experiencing.

What was really nice is the place has many wineries.. The bad news is it needs to update the days and hours that they are open. Watkins Glen was amazing. The town is very walkable. The surprise is the park itself, driving thru one would not know the natural beauty. Driving around was easy.

Hector was very quiet when we were there probably because it was on Weekdays. Not many restaurants in Hector. We visited a distillery which we enjoyed and ate at the Scalehouse brewery. Pizza was good but it was very noisy.
