"I loved the lights everywhere! This town honestly has the feel of a cheerful Ocean City, MD. It's a little honky tonk and a lot of fun. We didn't spend any time at the beaches because we headed to Cat Ba National Park and hiked through the park to the Viet Hai fishing village. Highly recommend!"

Great location near restaurants, but far enough from the clubs that it’s quiet at night. The staff really make the place though. The manager Hoai doesn’t speak much English, but is great with Google translate. She helped me figure out how to get from Ho Chi Minh to Cat Ba (I was going to fly to Hanoi and take the bus, but she gave me step by step instructions on a shorter route from Haiphong airport to Cat Ba, and even sent photos of the bus I was to take.). And she was always checking in via WhatsApp, to see if I needed anything. Property has an elevator which was really nice being on the 6th floor!

Whenever I need to be in Ha Long, this is my automatic choice. Whether it’s a quick work trip or a weekend away, the experience is consistently top-tier. Location was perfect for us and we loved the pool.The breakfast was good, fried eggs, fruit, toast, coffee/tea. There was also a bar to order coffee, beer, smoothies etc. We enjoyed the free pool table. The staff was super friendly, arranged a boat cruise to Ha Long Bay, Monkey Island etc, 9 hours long including lunch, drinks were extra including water but we were told water was free.

Nice little town, easy walkable.

Nice little town, easy walkable. Be sure to visit the Sky Bar on the 17th floor of the hotel along the main road - it's great for drinks and sunset. There is a wonderful walkway between CatBa 2 and CatBa 3 beaches, definitely worth doing especially at sunset.

We really loved our time on Cat Ba Island.

We really loved our time on Cat Ba Island. It is an excellent gateway to Lan Ha and Ha Long bays, the National Park is stunning and well worth visiting, as is the Hospital cave close by. I would recommend 3-4 days on Cat Ba if you are ok with being busy and longer if you like to take things at a slower pace.

Lan Ha Bay at Bat Ba Island is the ideal jumping off place...

Lan Ha Bay at Bat Ba Island is the ideal jumping off place for a day's excursion through the amazing karsh linstone landscape. Recommend choosing an excursion boat which allows both under-awning shade and decktop sunning. Wear water shoes. Idyllic small beaches are very stoney at shoreline. The farther out one reaches in the archipelago the clearner the air and clearer the water (a lot of floating stuff close in to the harbor). The short excursions from the boat are not all that exciting. It's enough to soak up incredible sights along the way.
