Rooms in Yakushima

We have stayed at the Hotel Yakushima Ocean and Forest several times and it is always a relaxing and special stay. The staff is kind, helpful, and polite. The view is amazing. Our Japanese style room was clean, comfortable, quiet, and beautifully laid out, with a gorgeous view of the ocean and many amenities (fridge, tea, water kettle, toiletries, hair dryer, etc.) The food at the hotel is delicious and there a couple of vegan and vegetarian selections, which was important to us. You must make reservations if you want the full set meal, but we were also able to get ala carte items when we arrived without a reservation. There are also several izakaya within walking distance (10-20 minutes walking) or by car. The hotel is also convenient to the port and there is a shuttle service to the airport as well. This time, we also booked a hiking tour to the Jomon-sugi. This was an amazing experience! It was also simple to book, and the tour guide picked us up and dropped us off right at the hotel, which was very convenient.

Beautiful cottage. Friendly staff

The staff were exceptionally professional, polite, and delightful. We loved meeting and interacting with Koko-San. Fantastic view of the ocean from the open air onsen.

I got the biggest cottage. Had three bed on main level and two on upper bunk. Walked out to little patio, big bathhouse attached to the room. Laundry machine and kitchenette in the room.

Amazing and helpful staff. A lovely spot to have a tea or coffee and chat to other guests. Amazing bento box lunches. Great for if you’re out hiking!

It’s so clean. The owner is so nice. And the price is reasonable.

Location, services , cleanliness

Anbo is a very convenient hub for hikers, this hostel is just next to the bus stop.

Pretty much everything. It’s an old building, but it’s sturdy and charming. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Although it is located a ways from the more popular spots of the island, Isso beach and the town were wonderful. Also, there is plenty to do and explore farther along the coast.

We loved the host. She is such a kind and lovely lady! Even though she doesn't speak any English, she always tried her best to communicate with us. Our room was big, the location was within walking distance from the port and bus stops. The common areas were thoroughly cleaned every day, and we had 2 washing machines, a microwave, a fridge, a toaster and a rice maker available to our disposal. Right outside the guesthouse there are coin-operated clothes dryers and a shows washing machine and dryer.

Beautiful and comfortable cottages! You can preorder nice Japanese bentos for breakfast and lunch which is great for hiking. The family who run the place were very nice and helpful. They warned me of my ferry cancellation due to bad weather and refunded my first night at the last minute. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

Cozy home , River and mountains in front of home

Good stay - we booked a 3-person room plus a single bed. Room is big enough for all 4 of us. Hotel has a bath (not onsen) but it was OK. Food is good but if you can pay a little more there are better restaurants in other parts of the island.

The hosts were friendly, hospitaable, and very helpful - and they made a simple yet delicious and balanced breakfast. The coffee was amazing! The room, itself, was minimal and elegant - we particularly enjoyed the concrete bathroom and high ceilings in the bedroom. We also really enjoyed the fact that it did not have a TV, as we could just relax in peace and quiet after a busy day. You could tell the owners put a lot of care into the place.

Great hospitality :) The owners were very kind during our stay, and when I forgot my sunglasses at the property, they assisted in shipping them back to me. Thank you for a great trip!

Comfortable stay and a very cheerful helpful staffs. Great conversation with hosts and also helped with my Ferry reservation when it was canceled due to high surf advisory. Restraunts, grocery stores, souvenir shops, and outdoor stores nearby areas.
