Nice staff (JP speaking but patient). They went out of their way to serve us local specialities for dinner. Everything perfectly clean and spacious.

The Kaiseki dinner and the breakfast in a private dinning room were really nice experience for taste and view. The dishes were very well presented in decent plates. The private open air onsen was also a very romantic experience.

This might be my favorite place to stay in Japan! The room had a comfortable bed and a desk area. Outside the room was a community bathroom area. There are several private onsen on the premises that you can use. Sometimes you need to reserve a specific time to use the onsen, but I was there at a time where there were not too many occupants, so I could use the onsen at any time! The staff was very friendly and they offer curry meals for dinner. This hotel is about a 40 minute walk from Aso Station. Highly recommend!

Tabinoyado Asonoyu provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 20 miles of Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto and 25 miles of Kumamoto Castle.

Absolutelly great experience. Stylish, wooden ryokan, perfectly clean, with own private and/or public onsen with volcanic hot water. Staff was extremely kind, fdiendly, helpful, and spoke very good english. Views on the caldera were great. Its good to mention that - as other traditional houses in Aso - there is no bathrom in the rooms. People are supposed to wash in the onsen, but shared bathroom is also available. It was not an issue, it is beautiful part of ryokan experience. But it is good to be aware.
