Absolutely loved my stay here. I told my friends that I have found a new go-to stay for myself and my friends whenever we come to Japan. The family running this inn is beyond inviting and made my friend and me feel very cared for, even with their cat greeting us at the door some nights.

A historic property full of character with charming Japanese style rooms. The dinner and breakfast with local tofu were both delicious and the staff very kindly adjusted the menu for dietary restrictions. In the evening you can book a private time-slot to use the outside bath which is very atmospheric. Staff were all very friendly and gave a lot of insight into the ryokan and the history of the area.

A 3-minute walk from Maita Subway Station, simple Japanese-style rooms with an LCD TV and a private bathroom await guests at Ryokan Matsushima. The hotel has a koi pond and a public bath.

Kikusuitei provides a sauna and free private parking, and is within 6.1 miles of Tamarokuto Science Center and 8 miles of Mukodai Park.

Room view of Tama-ko and Fuji-san was amazing. The older gentleman waiter at the breakfast was so friendly and took great photos of us. I’m sorry I didn’t catch his name.
